Headlines: Trump Wanted Idol Alums for Inaugural, Luke Bryan Ready For Social Distance

Trump Wanted The Killers, Celine Dion, Kiss, or Meat Loaf to Play His Inauguration – It’s no secret many musicians aren’t fans of Donald Trump — just look at the number of artists who have spoken out or taken legal action against him. It’s not surprising, then, that his 2017 inauguration featured bottom-barrel performances by the likes of 3 Doors Down, Toby Keith, and DJ Ravidrums. But if Trump had gotten his way, the relatively paltry crowd at the National Mall that fateful day would have been listening to The Killers, Celine Dion, KISS, Aerosmith, or even Meat Loaf. As for musical acts, she was working with Clive Davis’ son, Mitch, “trying to book some famous talent (we were hoping to book two or three acts from a list we’d drawn up featuring Aerosmith, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Kiss, the Killers, Meat Loaf, Mavis Staples, Pat Benatar, and Lynyrd Skynyrd).” – Read more at ConsequenceofSound

Luke Bryan’s excited to be back on ‘Idol’ with Lionel and Katy, even if they’re “six feet apart at the judges’ table” -“I would say that there will be significant [new] ways that we have to tape it,” Luke explains, “just based on adhering to social distancing and how we get contestants out there. So you will notice changes.” “But, you know, at the end of the day,” he adds, “any changes are just simply predicated because we’re doing our best to make the best show [we can].” Still, Luke’s holding out hope he’ll get to be in the same room with Lionel and Katy, even if they are a little farther apart. “Currently, I don’t think it’ll be in video land…” Luke predicts. “I think there’s a way that we can integrate video and actually be there…” “We’ll probably be six feet apart at the judges’ table,” he laughs. – Read more at BigCountry101

Casey Abrams Voice Acting Reel

American Idol 11 alum Casey Abrams is trying his hand at voice work. His bff Haley Reinhart currently voices a character on Bill Burr’s Netflix animation, F is For Family.

Lauren Alaina Melts Away The Pain With New EP, ‘Getting Over Him’ – Lauren Alaina was dancing eight to 10 hours a day. Her hectic schedule on Dancing with the Stars left little room to be sad. Two weeks prior to her dazzling star turn, she went through a brutal break-up, but she didn’t want her pain to be the story on the show. Instead, she spun her tattered heartstrings into impressive dance routines. “It was a time of celebration for me, and I was learning a new skill. It was really hard. I was also away from all of my friends and family,” he tells American Songwriter over a phone call earlier this month. She couldn’t escape the sorrow, of course, so she wrote a song about it. A stunning piano ballad, “What Do You Think Of,” featuring pop star Lukas Graham, sprouted out of her ache and began her entire journey of healing. – Read more at American Songwriter

  1. hmm i guess Beyonce wasn’t on his? speed diAl for a reason.. ‘fortunate for her

  2. The fact that he’s even trying to find headliners for his inauguration is disheartening!

  3. He had been elected by that point, hadn’t he? So it makes sense they would have been trying to find people to perform.

Now if he was trying to find performers for the upcoming inaugural in 2021, that would be disheartening

  4. Not surprised that entertainers wouldn’t agree to perform for Trump. Many of them may have decided they disliked him even before he announced his run for the presidency. I know I did long before I ever had an inkling of his political opinions.

  5. I did a quick search on Kelly’s “Heartbeat Song” and no, that site posted the video, but it wasn’t a premiere.

I wouldn’t care, except he actually looked up my home address and was teasing it on his Twitter account. He actually scared me a little.

He grew out of the Glee fandom, where he had a terrible reputation. Tons of negative stories.

  6. Posted today by AXS TV for their series “Rock & Roll Firsts”.
(Looks like it was recorded during the “Rock Legends” cruise that James fronting QR played in 2018.)

“AXS TV’s Rock & Roll Firsts asks your favorite Rock Stars the questions we all have experienced. It’s great to watch their eyes light up as they talk about their first gig, the first record they bought, or the first time they heard themselves on the radio. So take a spin down memory lane and watch Rock & Roll Firsts!”

  7. Hm. I can’t remember when I took that website off of my banned list. The owner is a psychopath who stole my scoops and when I called him out, he threatened to dox and sue me.

I could look for the thread, but there’s a whole saga about how he hooked up with another website, lied to them, promised prizes to readers that never came to fruition, and then stole the website’s twitter account. Literally, Changed the password and stole it. The original owners lamented that they trusted him.

Kind of surprised Cook would premiere a video there. Took a peek at Alexa, and their traffic rank is pretty poor. A little surprised one of the bigger sites didn’t bite.

ETA: Maybe he knows the writer personally.

  8. Geebus…I had no idea! ? I recall Kelly premiered her “Heartbeat” video there a couple yrs ago…David just dropped a tweet about it and said it would be everywhere on Friday…

ETA: Hmmm ? … maybe he does know the writer…that’s not a cursory interview.

TOMORROW! Idol’s very own rock man joins us for a special #LiveWithMichael. See you at 6pm PT/9pm ET. @chrisdaughtry
