Jax set to run in NYC Marathon – Run Jax run! It’s become a familiar sight around town — hometown “Idol” Jax taking to the streets running mile after mile as she trains for the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon. Neighbors shout out words of encouragement. Others take on the road selfies with the admitedly “sweaty” singer-songwriter when she slows down. “I’m getting a crazy amount of support in East Brunswick,” Jax said. “Whenever I run when I’m home, they yell out the window. I think it’s pretty fun. I’m having such a good time with it.” – MyCentralJersey

2016 TCS NEW YORK CITY MARATHON – ‘American Idol’ contestant overcomes thyroid cancer to run TCS NYC Marathon – At 18 on “American Idol,” she did better than any other New Jersey contestant to date, finishing in third place. Then she got back out, writing and recording, but her journey took a unexpected detour when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and 18 tumors were found. “Twelve of them were cancerous,” she said. “(But) I’m singing nonstop.” And running. So why the marathon? “I want to feel like I’m in the epitome of good shape,” she said. “They told me I could start working out again, and then I took it to my OCD extreme. ‘Oh really, I can work out, maybe I’ll do a marathon,’ and then started training to be in the best shape I could be.” – Read more at ABC7NY

Carrie Underwood Talks ‘Strong Women’, ‘Hush-Hush’ Beyoncé at CMA Awards – “We really just wanted to have a lot of women onstage,” Underwood told the pressroom after the show. “Gorgeous, strong, talented, amazing women. Because I feel like our country format could use some more, so lets bring them all up onstage at one time. I called up some friends and asked if they might come be a part of it. We had the Runaway June girls, we had Orianthi, Lindsay Ell, and it was amazing just to have, like I said, beautiful, talented, strong women doing what they do.” – Read more at Rolling Stone

American Idol 15 Singer Olivia Rox to Release Album Early 2015

Olivia has recorded 40 songs and chosen the 12 songs that will go on the record.

Todrick Hall’s Journey from Closeted American Idol Contestant to Kinky Boots Star on Broadway: ‘This Is a Dream Come True’ – On Tuesday, the singer stepped into a pair of sequined heels to play Lola in Kinky Boots, a role he’ll he’ll take on eight times a week at the Al Herschfeld Theatre in New York City. Dressing up in drag and baring his soul are par for the course these days for Hall, but the singer wasn’t always so comfortable in his skin. Growing up playing with dolls, singing in Sunday school and dancing in ballet lessons, the Plainview, Texas, native always knew he was a little different. “We would watch Ricki Lake, and sometimes gay people would come on. My family would be like, ‘That’s disgusting,’” he recalls. “I didn’t know that I was gay, but I thought, ‘Will my family think I’m disgusting if I end up being one of those people?’” – Read more at People.com

Dancing’s Derek Hough: I Was Pretty Disappointed with Our Rehearsal Package – In all of my years on Dancing with the Stars, I’ve never been involved in a scandal or anything overly dramatic. I can now say that’s no longer the case — ladies and gentlemen, we have “push-gate”! In all seriousness, I was pretty disappointed with our package. Marilu and I actually sat down last week and had a heart-to-heart about what actually happened during our team dance, how we both felt about it and how we felt about each other. Unfortunately, none of that was used in our package this week so I feel like the audience was short-changed a little bit and instead was fed footage that looked tense and uncomfortable. – Read more at TVGuide
