After ‘American Idol,’ runner-up Willie Spence calls reality show a ‘hard,’ ‘amazing’ ride – Willie Spence spent much of this year performing on an international stage as a finalist on “American Idol.” On Saturday, he was back home in Palm Beach County, singing for the people who know him best. People gathered that morning in a packed room at a DoubleTree hotel in Palm Beach Gardens to honor Kenneth Bowers, the executive director and founder of the charity Operation Hope, and others in the community. Spence, who was involved in the charity from the ages of 6 to 16, said it was “about time that we’re finally honoring Mr. Bowers.” He admitted performing in the finale put him under a lot of pressure. He described his entire time on the show as the best experience of his life, but also the most difficult. “To go through that for three months living in a hotel and having to learn new songs, it’s definitely been hard,” he said. “But it’s been amazing the whole ride through, so I’m definitely glad that I chose to do the show.” – Read more at Palm Beach Post
‘American Idol’ finalist Willie Spence surprises Renaissance Charter School – Friday was the last day of school for students at Renaissance Charter School in West Palm Beach. Principal Kendra Spence-Wester held an outdoor concert to celebrate the year the students faced amid a pandemic. “We are here to celebrate you. Give it up for yourselves,” Spence-Wester said. The principal invited a surprise guest to celebrate the end of the school year. The guest also happens to be her little brother, Willie Spence.
