ACM HONORS: Martina McBride Wins Award and Lauren Alaina’s Devotion – Martina McBride was there to accept her ACM Cliffie Stone Icon Award, which is reserved for the artists who advanced the popularity of the genre through their varied contributions. But before she could say a word, Alaina took the stage of the Mother Church of country music to tell the crowd her story of how McBride unknowingly taught her to sing. “McBride was one of those women who fired up girls like me with unvarnished songs that told the truth. You are my hero,” Alaina told the crowd and McBride. “She literally taught me how to sing. I would sit in my bedroom and play your CD over and over again and try to hit the high notes. I couldn’t do it for a really long time. But I’ll never forget the first time I hit the big note in ’Broken Wing,’ my parents ran upstairs, and it was the most joyous day of my life. – Read more at CMT.com

Cook, undoubtedly, confessed that the popular Fox singing competition changed his life forever. “I was a terrible bartender who played acoustic gigs for rent before Idol,” Cook said. “I was known as the guy who could play 20 seconds of almost any song. I didn’t know a lot of entire songs but I could fake my way through a chorus.” – Read more at PopCulture.com

Chris Daughtry Talks Rattling The Cage And New Tour – Interestingly enough, the band’s first single “Deep End” off the new album wasn’t a favorite of Daughtry’s. “That song if I’m being 100 percent honest wasn’t my favorite song on the record,” Daughtry said. “It was a song that came in much later in the process. The label basically said, ‘Hey. We have this song that we think you should record.’ At the state [the album] was in I was like, “No, I’m good. That’s not my bag, but thanks anyway.” They kept harping on it and eventually I was like ‘Alright. Let me at least have my way with it and make it my own.’ Then of course I ultimately gave in and recorded the song. It didn’t do what they had hoped and obviously it didn’t do what I hoped. It’s just one of those classic scenarios that you hear from a lot of artists.” – Read more at Long Island Weekly
