Keith Urban exhibit ‘bittersweet’ as father fights for life – The rotunda was full of people important to Urban’s career: Mike Dungan, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group Nashville, Urban’s label; Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler; Mary Martin, a former A&R executive at RCA Records, who offered Urban the encourage he needed to eventually move to Nashville, and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman. But his father — a man who sewed Urban’s early stage clothes, taught him to love country music and relentlessly supported his career — was not. Robert Urban recently was placed in hospice care, and his son is still reeling from the news. “He’s probably only got a few weeks, if that,” Urban said. “I’ve just been dealing with that the last couple of days. This has all come at a very strange time where it’s typical of a career that has extreme highs and extreme lows all often at the exact same time. Kellie Pickler’s Goal for CMT Show? That Fans ‘Watch & Smile’ – “I was approached after American Idol to do a show around me, but it just took me about 10 years to work up the courage to go and do it,” the singer tells Billboard. “There were different things I was involved with and a lot of growing up that needed to take place behind the camera and not in front of it. It felt like the right time, and working with Ryan Seacrest Productions is great because he and I met when I was 19 and green, and it just felt like the perfect fit.
