Taylor Hicks talks about ‘American Idol’ finale, new ‘State Plate’ series, 2 shows at Lyric Theatre – Q: You performed on this year’s “American Idol” finale, helping the reality series say farewell to the public. What thoughts were running through your head, going back to the show that brought your first rush of fame? A: I felt very nostalgic that night, not only seeing all the other people that have been on the show, but seeing the crew and the producers. It make you feel like you were part of one of the biggest TV shows in the history of television. I’m blessed to have been on a show of that stature. Q: You’ll be on TV again with a new food and travel series, “State Plate.” Have you started filming yet? A: Yes, I came straight off the “Idol” finale to filling up my state plate. I’m excited to learn, to be educated on what every state has to offer from a culinary perspective. I’m definitely getting my hands dirty. When someone says “farm to table,” I go to the farm and then I go to the table. I’ll be going far and wide, across the good ol’ U.S.A. There are some brand new experiences for an Alabama boy. I think there’s no question this will change my culinary palate. – Read more at AL.com
