Headlines: James Durbin Manages Life, Owen Danoff Pledgemusic

Tonight, FIVE acts will leave America’s Got Talent, Seven move on to the next round. Mat Franco and Paul Zerdin perform.

Sound Check: Ex-“Idol” James Durbin takes the reins on latest album – “Being independent is uncharted territory for us — for me especially,” Durbin, 27, says by phone from San Jose, where he resides. “Every day has been a new learning experience. We feel like we’re just starting to poke our head out of the ground and just starting to bloom.” Durbin — who finished fourth during American Idol’s 10th season in 2011 (the year Scotty McCreary won) — calls “Riot On Sunset” his “coming of age album,” primarily because it’s his first done solely on his own terms and serving his own vision. – Read more at Daily Tribune

How American Idol’s James Durbin Manages Life With Tourette’s and Asperger’s – Cut to five years later, and Durbin is still singing and touring (he’s just released a new album, Riot on Sunset) and living in Santa Cruz, California, with his wife Heidi Lowe, son Hunter, 7, and daughter Kinzee Cruz, 19 months. And while he still needs to manage his condition, he says he couldn’t be happier. “Life is great,” Durbin tells PEOPLE exclusively. “The difference between my tics on Idol and now is like night and day. But it’s something that is heightened by stress, and being on the show was stressful – but now I know how to manage myself in those types of situations.” – Read more at People.com

Colonia’s Schiavo scores with first single after ‘The Voice’ – “It was inspired by a situation I’ve been that I feel is very common and many people can relate to,” said the 22-year-old singer/songwriter from the Colonia section of Woodbridge. “It’s about the constant conflicting thoughts you have when you are in a relationship that you a hundred percent know is not healthy or right for you, no matter how you feel about the person. I think everyone has been in a situation somewhat like this and we all are so confused and lost without this person in a sense, even though you know being apart is the right thing for both of you.” “The single is a very good first glimpse at me as an artist for people who saw me on ‘The Voice,'” Schiavo added. “I think it’s a mesh of the many genres I am influenced by.” – Read more at MyCentralJersey.com

The Voice 10 Singer Owen Danoff Begins Pledgemusic Drive

Former ‘Bachelorette’ Andi Dorfman: The Fantasy Suite Double Standard Needs to Stop (Guest Column) – Let’s be honest, there is an obvious double standard that you see on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. When it came to the finale and the live revelation from Nick that we had been physically intimate on the After the Final Rose special, I was even more shocked and unprepared. I had been through the ringer as far as knowing and experiencing peoples’ criticism, but when this happened I thought: What are they going to find next? On one hand, you do put your personal life out there, and you know people are going to talk about it and have opinions. But when somebody reveals what is supposed to be very private and you find yourself going back on that, you wonder: Where does the line get drawn? How much is too much? After that aired, I saw clips of national news anchors on TV calling me a s***. Verbatim. On live national television, calling me a s***. You never see them say that about the Bachelor. Almost every Bachelor has sex with everyone he goes into the fantasy suites with. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

  1. Congrats!

#Yesterday was a good day. Signed my pub deal with @atlasmusicpub, drank some champagne, and got a sweet new pen.

  2. I liked this quote from the Andi Dorfman Bachelorette article: “You’re not going to be able to change or convince a hater to stop hating, just ask them: What are you getting out of it and what impact is it having on your life and in general?” Also: “My wish is for us to stop dramatizing something that we don’t agree with.”

  3. Another great album review posted today from Screamer Magazine:
JAMES DURBIN – Riot On Sunset

    (On my favorite track :)…
…”Beautiful showcases Durbin’s voice the most out of any track on this album. His sultry and expansive range are impressive and most notable high range that Durbin takes up to the top and back down again. The guitar solo is phenomenal in its own right and hands down puts this track as the stand out song on the album.”…

…”Overall, the album is a cocktail of Durbin’s signature sound with a few shots of Green Day that makes for his best and most memorable album to date. Knowing that Durbin had ultimate freedom on this record and wrote the songs over the span of his life, Riot On Sunset is a breath of fresh air and it is a true testament to the passion and heart that Durbin possesses, not only in his songwriting but in his musicianship as well.”

  4. At the end of this video Kris plays the chorus of the new Xmas song he co-wrote with Jim & Victoria Shaw. Sounds good…I hope Jim is right that the song will be on the radio during the holiday season.

Bummed the tour isn’t coming near Nashville (tour dates are up on Jim Brickman’s website & FB page)

  5. can’t remember if this was already posted about Totem (Anoop)

    from July 16…

“A practitioner of sleek indie pop, transplanted New Yorker TOTEM has already won wide acclaim via two Eps of smooth, impactful songs, suggesting he won’t stay technically “indie” for much longer.”

on 7/28 he will be on the BMI Stage at Lollapalooza 2016.

After landing on @Spotify’s Viral 50 chart, @totemsound is all set for our stage!

  6. “James Durbin declares independence with ‘Riot on Sunset’”

…“Riot on Sunset” is a deft blend of big crunchy rockers and soul-searching ballads, many of which work as a kind of catharsis for a tough youth, said Durbin. “Sunday is Gone” was inspired by his first-ever visit to the grave of his father, who died when Durbin was a pre-teen.”…

  7. Looks like Kris will not be performing at all the dates. His website does not show all the dates that are on Jim Brickman’s website & facebook.

  8. Adam is currently in OZ taping for XFactorAu. He will have the under 22, Iggy groups, and Sebastian over 22. Since Iggy sits between the two guys, audience members observed Iggy and Adam are getting along really great, and there have been some long hugs between the two.

  9. Bummed about this. He isn’t playing the one show that’s fairly close to me. I have all of Jim’s holiday CD’s and have seen him live. Kris would be an added bonus and I would love to go.

  10. Knowing Iggy’s recent troubles, probably appreciates sitting next to someone as solid and kind as Adam.

  11. For some reason I thought that they already knew each other before Adam got this gig?

  12. Their paths have crossed, but I don’t know how well they actually knew each other I remember Adam took, and tweeted out, a photo of Iggy eating a slice of red velvet cake at some awards show, which amused her.
