Uché and Laci Kaye Booth rep the Houston area on ‘American Idol’ – Houston native Uché, 24, exudes confidence on TV but acknowledges he was nervous and isn’t “crazy proud” of his first performance. He almost got the boot for a rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man” that was more dancing than singing. “I’m such an overthinking monster. If I don’t check myself, I can psych myself out,” Uché says. “That confidence is a little facade. That’s a little mask I put on.” Booth’s path to the top 14 has been more subtle. The 23-year-old Livingston native impressed the judges with her sweet rasp on Merle Haggard’s “Mama Tried.” “I was shaking all over,” Booth says. She previously auditioned for “The Voice,” but nothing came of it. “I grew up dancing to Katy Perry songs in my room. It was insane to see her in person.” – Read more at the Houston Chronicle

X Factor winners Rak-Su explain split from Simon Cowell’s “frustrating” record label – Former X Factor winners Rak-Su have opened up about their split from Simon Cowell’s record label, admitting they were left “frustrated”. The group parted ways with Syco last year alongside fellow champs Little Mix, and have now claimed that their time there was “confusing” as they struggled to get songs released. “When we came off The X Factor there were suddenly a lot of cooks in the kitchen. It has taken us a while to get back to where we were before.” The band have since moved to RCA, with Myles Stephenson adding: “Since we’ve been on RCA we’ve released the Rome EP, filmed four videos and released ‘Yours Or Mine’, so for us, as long as music is released, we’re happy.” However, they added that the relationship with Simon was still good. – Read more at Digital Spy
