Jordin Sparks heading to Chicago for Macy’s Great Tree lighting – “American Idol” season six winner Jordin Sparks will be in Chicago on Nov.7 as headliner for the annual lighting of Macy’s Great Christmas Tree celebration. The lighting of the 45-foot-tall tree, which adorns the legendary Walnut Room in the State Street store (111 N. State), has been a holiday tradition in Chicago for over 100 years (beginning with Marshall Field’s). The Nov. 7 ceremony will take place at noon. McCrory – Scotty McCreery returned to his hometown of Garner, N.C., on Monday (Oct. 12) to welcome North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory, who was in the community to announce the modernization of the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles. Picking the second single was hard! It’s a great position to be in – we really felt like there’s a lot of radio-friendly songs on the album and a lot of directions we could go. From ‘American Idol’ contestant to college student, rising star settles on the Hill – Brandy Neelly, a sophomore from Oldham County, is an up-and-coming country-music artist who was discovered on “American Idol,” a televised singing competition. Neelly is now the lead vocalist of the Brandy Neelly Band. The band is currently under contract with Century Music Group, located in Nashville.
