Alex Boniello, David Cook, & More Stars Set For BROADWAY SINGS ALANIS – The acclaimed Broadway Sings concert series will continue on August 20 at 8pm, honoring singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette with a cast of Broadway stars including Alex Boniello (Dear Evan Hansen), Lauren Patten (Fun Home), Ben Thompson (Waitress), and American Idol Season 7 winner David Cook (Kinky Boots). The one-night-only concert will feature completely new arrangements of the hits of the iconic multi-instrumentalist, accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra playing original orchestrations of her music. Also featured in the lineup are Krystina Alabado (American Psycho), Crystal Monee Hall (Rent), Corey Mach (Kinky Boots), Jillian Mueller (Pretty Woman), Laurissa Romain (South Pacific), Joey Taranto (Kinky Boots), Stephanie Jean Umoh (Ragtime), and Ace Young (Grease), with more to be announced at a later date. These events definitely caught me off guard and scared the hell out of me. Events in Paris, events in Orlando, Ariana’s concert – all these terrible tragedies have scared me. I feel somewhat reassured by amazing security teams that have been put into place, at least for our concerts. I think there’s a lot of new security protocols that have been put into place, both on stage and in the audience, so that makes me feel better. “American Idol” winner, Iowa-native says she’s excited to return to Omaha – “When I was announced the winner, I kind of had like a flashback, like, of everything that has happened so far,” Poppe said. It started with her Omaha audition, a place she says she is excited to return to for the American Idol tour, almost exactly one year later. “It’s closest to where I live, but also, it’s going to be really cool to play in Omaha because Omaha is where the entire American Idol experience started for me,” Poppe said. The singer said she is looking forward to seeing her friends and family at the Omaha show, and eager for the audience to see the new collaborations between her Idol competitors. – See the Video at KETV.com
