HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Nov 18-24 (UPDATED)

With 68.46% of reports in, Eminem is set to regain the top of the chart in his third week. He’s already topped a million in sales and will probably sell well during the holiday season. The top debut this week will have to settle for number 2. Metal band Five Finger Death Punch looks to sell 75-80K.

The soundtrack for the latest Hunger Games is currently sitting in third. HDD predicted on Friday that they would end further back, but the movie release may have pushed more buyers than expected into the stores. It certainly filled the seats.

Last week’s number one has, expected, taken an epic tumble. Lady Gaga’s “Artpop” is witnessing a massive 80% drop and is sitting at number 4. And they didn’t even fire-sale her album debut week this year. Gaga is going to have to re-tool if she wants to be the next Madonna, but maybe she’s content with her music and her fans so she can stay in her groove. Jimmie would be pulling out his hair if he had any left.

Now 48 (which will be an easy gift for the Christmas season) is 5th, the stupid Ducks are quacking their way to the best selling Christmas album of the season (seriously, buy Kelly’s. At least you will want to play her album next year after the Duck fad wears off) are 7th, Yo Gotti (rapper) is 8th and Katy Perry roars to 10th.

In the top 10, we have two Idols. Daughtry is debuting their “Baptized” in 6th. Sure, it’s a drop from the heady days when their style of rock dominated the charts, but they are at least outselling the debut compilation from Nickelback. Like Lady Gaga, you have to decide if the genre you are in is who you are or whether you evolve with the time. There is nothing wrong with doing the kind of music you love. Sometimes it is in style and sometimes it is less in style.

Kelly is also in the top 10 with her far superior Christmas album than that Duck garbage. She is holding in there at 9th. There is a Christmas tinge to the rest of the Idols/Talenters on the list too. The Best Man Holiday soundtrack features Idol winners Jordin Spark (Christmastime To Me) and Fantasia (What Christmas Means To Me) and a host of other people who can actually sing! The album is at 19th. Susan Boyle from BGT has her latest Christmas offering holding steady-ish at 21st.

Finally, we have Scotty McCreery with two albums in the top 50. His Christmas album from last year has returned and is sitting at 48th. His latest album remains in the top 50 at 40th.

One Direction released their album yesterday and HDD is predicted 500K in sales. Their one-day predictions should come out today. Danielle from the Voice also released an album this week.

ONE DAY SALES PREDICTION FOR ONE DIRECTION:

After one day of sales, we’re projecting the first week of One Direction’s SYCO/Columbia album Midnight Memories at 550-600k, which would their previous release, 2012’s Take Me Home, which opened with 540k.  (HDD)
