HDD – Album Sales Prediction : June 2-8

With 69.42% of reports in, Miranda Lambert is headed for her first number one album. With about 175K in predicted sales, it will also be her best selling week ever. It will also be the best selling week for a country female since Taylor Swift back in December of 2012. Carrie is the other big selling female country artist lately and she is featured on Miranda’s album in a duet. Miranda got her start on the reality singing competition Nashville Star.

The second highest album and debut is from rapper 50 Cent. Number two is nice, but he’s clearly fallen from the days he debuted with 1,141K in sales back in 2006. Remember the big debut battle he had with Kanye West? He’s still the sixth best-selling Rap artist of all time. 10 of the 11 tracks of this album have already been released as singles…interesting.

The “Fault in Our Stars” is the latest YA novel turned into a number one movie with a soundtrack that reflects that. It features a who’s-who list of hot AAA acts with Ed Sheeran leading the way. No Idols, but it does feature two of the featured upcoming artists on the show…Jack Bugg and Kodaline. If the past is any indication, this soundtrack should sit in the top 10 for a while.

Coldplay slips to fourth after spending two weeks at number one. Frozen continues to do well even though summer is fast approaching and is at fifth. Now Country 7 debuts in 6th with Miranda (Nashville Star) and judges Keith Urban and Blake Shelton. Brantley Gilbert moves to 7th after two weeks at number 2. Led Zeppelin is there at 8th. Lucy Hale, who years ago was on American Juniors, is debuting at 9th which is impressive for a new Country female star who isn’t being fueled by a recent reality singing show stint. Led Zeppelin II rounds out the top 10. Led Zeppelin III is 11th. These are a re-release of their first three albums.

Idol Phillip Phillips will is currently 30th in his third week and X-Factors One Direction surges back onto the chart at 49th. Now 50’s deluxe edition features Idols Kelly Clarkson and Carly Rae Jepsen. It is at 13th.

Judges are represented by Mariah (16th in her second week), Blake Shelton (37th) and Shakira (50th).

Idina Menzel (aka Adele Dazeem) sang one of the songs from her latest Broadway production on the Tony’s on Sunday and that helped boost the Soundtrack album for “If/Then” to 15th – pretty impressive for a Broadway album.
