With 36.20% (what’s up with the low percentage?) of reports in, Taylor Swift is unsurprisingly topping the charts again. She’s already selling more than the next three albums, so she should be safe, but one never knows with HDD (they predict 110-115K in sales and an SPS in the 155K-165K range). Garth Brooks is second – he just keeps selling. Sam Smith is racking up the fans and the sales while Nicki is holding nicely at 4th. Now 52 allows one to get the latest hits without having to pick them yourself and that’s good enough for fifth. Disney represents with “Into the Woods” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” at 6th and 9th. Ed sings himself to 7th and AC/DC is 8th. All albums that have been out for a while. Hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd is set to have the highest debut of the week with 30-35K, but is way back in 23rd right now. They are expected to pop to 3rd by the final report.
One Direction is the sole reality song competitors in the top 10. Their “Four” isn’t perhaps selling as well as their previous albums, but they’ll make it up in concert revenue. Carrie Underwood’s Greatest Hits is 14th. Judges are represented by Blake Shelton at 29th and Maroon 5 at 32nd.
Meghan Trainor will brighten the charts next week when she releases “Title”. HDD reports that robust pre-sales indicate she will have about 150K in sales. It’s not always easy for pop stars to turn a couple of hit singles into album success, so good for her.
