HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Apr 6-12

With 60.48% of reports in. rockers All Time Low will have their first number one on the sales chart. This could be their best sales week ever topping 65K. If you think 65K is an all time low for hitting the top of the sales chart, you would be wrong. Those numbers can go almost 20K lower. That’s one of the reasons BB decided to add TEAs/SEAs to create a combined chart for the BB200 which All Time Low will not top. Paul Walker died in a tragic accident and now people have a song to remember him buy and they are buying it in droves. So, the Fast and Furious 7 soundtrack will top the BB200 this week. That’s right – one successful song can get you topping both main charts. And that is why I’m still grumpy about the BB200 change.

Kendrick Lamar is third (pretty good hold for a rap album which tend to fall off a cliff after the first couple of weeks), Taylor Swift is 4th (that girl’s albums not only start big, they stay big), Wale slides to 5th (after topping the chart last week), while the Empire Cast is 6th. Sam wasn’t hurt too badly by the Idol singing his song and he is 7th while Maroon 5 (with Voice judge Adam Levine) is currently in 8th (SPS will move them up the chart as “Sugar” is resonating with buyers/radio listeners). Ed is 9th and Darius Rucker (formerly Hootie) rounds out the current top 10.

Only one debut in the top 10…kind of sad.

Reality show competitors are represented only by Kelly Clarkson at 32. Now 53 features One Direction and is at 16 while NOW ACM Awards has both Carrie and Kelly.
