HDD – Album Sales Prediction : June 24-30

With 70.38% of sales in, all signs point to a second week with a Rap album topping the chart. This time, it is the third studio album from DC Rapper Wale. This album features guest appearances by former Idol judge Nicki Minaj and returning Voice judge Cee Lo Green

Next up, holding the same position as last week is J.Cole. Last week, we talked about front-loaded sales from Kanye and he has slid from number 1 last week to be behind J. Cole this week. J. is expected to see a typical decrease in sales of around 68-70% while Kanye is witnessing a 77-79% fall. Still, 75K in sales will get you a commanding lead on the album charts some weeks so North West won’t be going shoeless.

Christian Rock band Skillet is set to debuting fourth, Country’s Florida Georgia Line is 5th and Imagine Dragons are 6th. Daft Punk shows their legs at 7th, August Burns Red (Melodic Metalcore? I swear, it gets weirder every week. I would never have described any form of Metal as being melodic so I’m kind of intrigued) are 8th, India.Arie is 9th and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis close out the top 10 (with $20 in their pockets).

The only reality show singer in the mix for the top 50 is the latest Voice winner, Danielle Bradbery. Her season long compilation album is showing some staying power at 40th (Voice sales tend to drop quickly because fans are trained to buy fast and early by the voting policy). This may be the first sign of a sustainable career. X-Factor’s One Direction and Olly Murs appear on NOW 46. There are lots of judges to mention (remember when it was a novelty that Paula got something to chart?)
