HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Aug 22-28

It looks like somebody at Walmart has become permanently lazy because this is the third week in a row we’ve only got less than a third of marketers reporting. Hopefully, they are just relaxing on a beach in Belize and will soon be back at it.

After two weeks, it appears that GAME has finally pushed Jay-Z and Kanye off of their throne (Kanye is going to be PISSED (when is he not?), but Jay-Z is too busy being over the moon to care much. Plus, he and Beyonce are still going to be able to keep their baby in shoes since she hasn’t left the top 10 in months and her “4” is currently sitting at 7).

With Game owning number 1 on the chart, they also having the top debut. Babs has to settle for number 3, but that’s totally impressive for a woman over 50 years into her career. She already holds the record for the most number of top 10 albums of any female recording artists (a stunning 31 and this album should make it 32). We should all be so successful.

Another impressive woman? Adele. Her “21” album has been in the top 3 since it’s release on Feb 22nd. This looks to be the first week that it will fall to top 4, but that kind of album longevity is stunning in today’s music market. Jason Aldean is another top 10 long-timer with his “My Kinda Party” which was released on November 2nd of last year and is currently at 8th. This album features a duet with original recipe Idol, Kelly Clarkson, which is still on the radio charts despite being released on Novemeber 11th.

Now 39 at 5 and Kidz Bop 20 at 9 show that compilation albums never go out of style. Luke Bryan has the top country album for the second week in a row with “Tailgates and Tanlines” currently at 6th. Meanwhile Katy Perry rounds out the top 10 with her square hat and “Teenage Dream” album.

Other than Kelly, the only Idol currently on the chart is Carrie Underwood who duets with Brad Paisley on his “This is Country” album. Their duet is currently at number 1 on the Country chart and that’s helping to sustain the album at 18.

AGT’s Jackie Evancho is showing that her Christmas EP was not a fluke and that people do want to purchase songs from children who sound like angels as her album is currently at 12th. Miranda Lambert, from Nashville Star, is one of the Pistol Annies and their album debuts at 14th. Her husband, Voice judge Blake Shelton, is just a few spots behind at 16th. Glee 3D is reaching out and selling those albums at 38 (in 17 days of release, the movie itself has sold $11, 686, 361 in tickets).
