American Idol alum Grace Kinstler drops new song “It’s Not Me it’s You”

Grace Kinstler keeps a steady presence on Instagram and Tik Tok where she’s amassed 508K and 1.1M followers, respectively. The American Idol 2021 alum has just released a new single titled “Not Me It’s You.” This, in between posting covers, run challengers and fashion looks on her socials.

The big-voiced singer has been teasing the song, written by Ally Sou, Grace, Gray Hawken and Jesse Gold for weeks now. The tune is the perfect fu anthem to friends who aren’t there when you need them.

“This is how you break up with a BLEEP friend in less than 60 seconds,” Grace introduces before singing a snip of the song. “You just pull them aside and you say ‘Hold up” and you ask them ‘how you going to lean on my shoulder, but when I’m falling you don’t show up?’ You kind of feel bad so you say ‘It’s my fault’ ‘ but then you tell them you know ‘I keep righting rights to your wrongs when all along’ DROP THE BOMB! ‘It’s not me it’s you…’ and that’s it! and then you say BLEEP and you never see them again.” She captions it “I dare you to send this to your friend!”

David Archuleta joins Grace to deliver his take on “Not Me it’s You”

In comments, fellow American Idol alum David Archuleta gushes “Wow your runs are so unbelievably surreal!! I’m literally in awe going through your videos.” Another Idol alum, Leah Marlene wrote, “god damn god damn god damn – every single time.” Even The Voice alum, country singer Ian Flanagan was in awe, “You’re amazing,” he wrote.

Later, David joined her in a video to add his perspective on ditching bad friends. “@davidarchie can SANG and cut off friends, can you?” Grace captioned a post of David singing his version of the snippet.
