Ha. When I read that British funny guy, Ricky Gervais blogged in Heat magazine that he was asked by Golden Globes officials to return next year to host, I thought maybe he was kidding:
The ratings went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. (But) I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure.
Well, yeah, he was probably kidding, because THR reports that Phil Berk, the head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, has denied that Ricky was asked to return to the Golden Globes in 2012.
“There is no truth to this rumor, ” says Berk, “We have not asked him to come back. Nice try, Ricky.”
Like, the British version of the The Office, in which Ricky served as star and co-creator, I think he’s taken the Golden Globes hosting gig as far as he can. It’s just as well…
