Glee Star Wins The Masked Dancer UK, DWTS Judge Places 3rd

Heather Morris The Masked Dancer

A season of The Masked Dancer finished up on Saturday (Oct 22) and Heather Morris from Glee was the last celebrity to take her mask off. She danced her way to the win as the Scissors. Additionally, Dancing with the Stars judge, Bruno Tonioli finished in 3rd place as the Pearly King. Bruno became famous in England first as an original judge for Strictly Come Dancing, the show that kicked off the DWTS franchise.

Heather acted and sang on Glee, but she was known first and foremost as a dancer. She got her role playing Brittany Pierce on the show after she was hired to teach Chris Colfer the “Single Ladies” dance. Before Glee, she was a backup dancer for Beyonce. And before that, she just missed making the Top 20 on So You Think You Can Dance season 2. She also competed on Dancing with the Stars season 24 in 2017, finishing in 8th place with pro-partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Alan Bersten while Maks dealt with an injury. She was eliminated after receiving a perfect score from the judges.

Judges Joel Dommett, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Oti Mabuse and Peter Crouch all helped put the clues together. Actor Adam Garcia, who played Onomatopoeia, came in second place.

“This has made my heart so full”

“I have had the best time. Seriously, this has made my heart so full,” Heather said after her win, adding “My kids at home, I have two boys, we are huge Masked fans. My oldest, during the pandemic, would make masks himself… when I got the call for this, hands down, of course I’m going to do this, my kids will be in awe of me.”

“I felt so good about myself, because you stare at yourself in the mirror and you’re like, ‘I’m a mum now, I could lose 5 pounds, I need to work out every day,” Heather said. “Granted I’m dancing and I teach here in the US but there are always things that you want to change about yourself. It felt so good to hear. I wanted to lift off my Scissors head and say, ‘thank you so much’ and then put the head back on!”

One of the telling clues: Scissors had massive chart success, but singing wasn’t “first and foremost” in their career. Glee singles would shoot to the top of the charts upon their release, and Heather did sing lead on quite a few, including during the Brittany Spears tribute in season 2. “I’ve still ended up in the charts,” Scissors said in their clue, “And I’m not talking once or twice but a record breaking number of times. I even ousted a musical legend from his post.”
