Glee Star Noah Guthrie Auditions for America’s Got Talent (VIDEO)

Noah Guthrie America's Got Talent Audition

A familiar face to Glee fans will pop up on tonight’s (June 12) America’s Got Talent audition episode.

Those who stuck it out until the bitter end of the FOX network’s musical drama will remember Noah Guthrie. He played Roderick, the shy but talented newbie, on the sixth and final season of the series, which aired January to March in 2015. Before his turn on Glee, the singer was known for releasing viral Youtube videos.

Some might feel it “unfair” that America’s Got Talent would cast a contestant who has already starred on a TV show. But aren’t we past the outrage at this point? Gone are the days of singing shows focusing primarily on giving new talent a chance to break out. Competitive reality show such as America’s Got Talent, The Voice, and even American Idol (albeit to a lesser extent) cast singers who can earn them buzz right out of the gate.

However, chances are many won’t remember Noah’s brief run on network television. The final season of Glee only ran for 11 weeks. Scheduled in a Friday night death slot, the season averaged about 2 million viewers an episode.

Here’s a snip of Noah, via EOnline, performing Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain” accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. The judges panel is obviously impressed. It’s pretty safe to predict that the singer advances to the next round.

Join us tonight as we live blog week 3 of the America’s Got Talent auditions on NBC, beginning at 8 pm ET.
