OMG you guys! Glee has cast Patty Duke and Meredith Baxter (Family Ties) to play a “longtime firmly committed lesbian couple who have been together for 25 years” a source confirms to E! News.

They will appear first in the season finale, set to shoot next week, Both actresses will return next season as recurring characters.

BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THAT. Wait until you hear the context of the couples introduction. In the series finale, titled “All or Nothing” set to air on May 9…

BLAINE (Darren Criss) DECIDES HE WANTS TO PROPOSE TO KURT (Chris Colfer)!!!!!!!!

Blaine goes to a jewelry store to buy a ring and meet’s Duke’s character, who is the jewelry salesperson. She speaks to Blaine and his love for Kurt, and then she and her longtime girlfriend (Baxter) offer to be their mentors—a couple who can tell them about what it used to be like, and how great it is for this new generation.

Actually, that storyline sounds awful and preachy but…KLAINE PROPOSAL GUYS! Are you excited? Of course, Kurt should say NO. They’re too young! But still.

I’m guessing that the proposal storyline will be one of several cliffhangers co-creator, Ryan Murphy has teased for the season finale.

As I type this, Tumblr is exploding. I can actually hear the bomb go off. Ha.

In a recent interview, Jacob Artist, who plays Jake Puckerman confirmed that this school year will spill into next season.  That’s a departure as every season has chronicled the school year in real time, more or less. It’s a way to delay the graduations of fan favorites like Heather Morris, Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz and Chord Overstreet. Because those newbies? Have not caught on yet.

The Regionals competition will be the centerpiece of the season finale. Last season, the Regionals episode aired in FEBRUARY, before the spring hiatus! There was still prom, Nationals and graduation ahead. So the Super Senior year could stretch halfway into Season 5…

ETA:  I don’t think they’ll actually get married.  Maybe engaged? But probably not. Ryan is pandering big time to the Klaine fans, who have been restless lately.  As a plot device to drum up interest for the season finale, it’s admittedly not very creative.  But, I’m not going to lie–‘ll probably get caught up in it anyway.

These plot twists–Rachel heading to Broadway, a possible Klaine engagement–indicate that Ryan is preparing for the end of the series. I think Season 5 will be the last. We’ll see the kids graduate and begin to move on with their lives–with maybe a time jump at the very end of the season that explains where everyone ends up. At that point, we may see a Klaine wedding. Rachel will be a huge Broadway star, etc.
