There was a flurry of tweets from the Glee cast today, as the first day of shooting began for Season 5. Also, we’ve got a couple of fun spoilers for the first two episodes, which are devoted to the music of The Beatles.

As the assembled cast is surely feeling the loss of their late cast mate, Cory Monteith. Glee producer and co-creator, Brad Falchuk tweeted:
It appears that the filming today happened on the McKinley side of the story line. Chris Colfer (Kurt) is in New York City at the moment, promoting his new book, The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns. He told Entertainment Weekly that he would not arrive on set until the end of the week. On getting back to work without Cory Monteith, he said, “We’ve had bumps and dips along the road over the course of the years, but nothing like this. I know we’ve always come together, always, in the past, because we are such a family in the cast and the crew. But I don’t know. I’m assuming things will be very different, and I’m sure they’ll be difficult at first. But…. We’ll see. I think I’m positive.”
Lea Michele (Rachel) who plays Kurt’s partner in crime in New York City, didn’t film any scenes today either. But she was in the studio recording a Beatles’ tune today. She and music producer Alex Anders had this touching exchange.
Naya Rivera (Santana) whose character is also part of the New York world was not reported to be on set either. I’m guessing the trio will reunite before the end of this week, so stay tuned.
Guess who else will be making an appearance at some point during the first two episodes–the Dalton Academy Warblers! According to spoilers, production is set to film at the Dalton Academy location in Pasadena. Lookie! Maybe Blaine will propose to Kurt on the staircase where they met. Wouldn’t that be romantic! And then Kurt will politely decline…as he should. But I digress.

Anyway, here’s a little tidbit. Reportedly New Directions (Sam and Blaine) and The Warblers will both perform the Beatles’ song “All You Need is Love”. Hey, it’s The Voice and American Idol alum, Luke Edgemon in the bottom right corner! Yeah, Luke is also a Warbler.
