TV Line’s Michael Ausiello tweeted some Glee Casting scoop last night:

Twitter Scoop: GLEE adding three new series regulars next season, including Puck’s younger, guitar-playing brother.

New characters, one female h.s. student, another male in 20s.

Puck’s little brother WHAT?  Where did he come from? I’m guessing it’s a long lost half-brother via Puck’s dead beat dad.  I hope the little bro isn’t anything like Puck character-wise.  It would be funny if he was the total opposite of big bro in every way. Still, casting a “little brother” borders on “Little Oliver” territory. It does give Mark Salling a chance to pop up every once in awhile.

I’m assuming the 20 something character will be a friend/classmate/love interest for one of the graduates.  I’m assuming he’ll be part of the split narrative/NYC storyline. And while Klaine fans are already beginning to spazz over on Tumbler over the new casting, I’m totally fine with a new love interest for Kurt (If that’s what it is–I have no idea!).  Blaine and Kurt will be living in different cities with no chance to interact in a meaningful way, so what’s the point of keeping them together? Of course, the character could be something else completely…like a student teacher at McKinley?

The hopeful who  wins the Glee Project will also become part of New Directions. It remains to be seen if last year’s winners, Damien McGinty and Samuel Larsen will return.  Producers also left doors open for the return of runners-up Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell as well.  I think they’d be crazy NOT to bring back Lindsay.  Her two appearances were pretty fabulous.  I don’t have a problem saying bye bye to the rest.   Samuel is a pretty terrible actor.  If they bring back Damien, they have to write better storylines for him.  Alex is a fantastic performer, but I’m not convinced he has the acting chops to pull off his character’s transgendered story line.

Last bit of news:  Writer/Producer Marti Noxon tweeted:

I will not be on Glee 4. Love the show and will miss all the good peeps. So all ya’ll Gleeks can unfollow and stop yelling at me! :)

I wonder why she’s leaving?  Maybe she’s got some big projects on her plate.  I had such high hopes for the new Glee writing staff.  But I have to say, overall, they did not fix the continuity and character development problems that plagued Glee at the end of Season 2.

Are you looking forward to the next season of Glee?  What do you think of the new cast members? I’ll be blogging The Glee Project, which debuts tonight at 10 pm, so watch for my post!

UDPATE: TV Line adds a little more info on the new casting:

Sure hope it’s not a fake rumor since I broke the news on Twitter last night. Here are some additional deets on the newbies: Besides Puck’s heretofore-never-seen guitar-strumming kid brother (who at this point is nameless), the fall lineup will include a high school girl and a college-age feller. Oh, and — shocking! — they will all be as easy on the ears as they will be on the eyes.
