LISTEN to FULL songs from this week’s Glee, titled “Sweet Dreams.”  The New York City storyline has returned. HOORAY. Rachel (Lea Michele) prepares for her “Funny Girl” audition, which ushers in the return of Idina Menzel as her birth mom, Shelby.  She’ll be on hand to help Rachel with her big audition. They sing “Next to Me” by Emile Sande together.

Rachel also gets a little help–in her mind–when she finally auditions. She sings “Don’t Stop Believing”–the legendary song that ended the Glee pilot.  Standing right behind her are the original 5 Glee clubbers-Finn, Kurt, Mercedes, Tina and Artie.  Not on the stage with her–but in her imagination, as she sings.  The performance is cut with the group, dressed in their orginal red shirts, performing with a black dress-clad Rachel.  The song is a Rachel solo.  The new performance sounds so mature compared to that sophomore girl in knee socks from three years ago.

Back at McKinley, New Directions is doing some preparations of their own.  Regionals is coming up, and everybody has their own opinion about what they should sing.  Remember Marley’s (Melissa Benoist) choir room confession that she was a secret songwriter?  The club sings two of her songs “You Have More Friends Than You Know” and “Outcast.”

And lastly. SOMEHOW, Finn (Cory Monteith) and Puck (Mark Salling) are in college. Or something. They sing “You’ve Got to Fight For Your Right to Party” at a school fraternity party.
