Glee Casting: Rachel’s Gay Dad’s Are Reportedly Cast!

Rachel Berry’s (Lea Michele) Gay Dads have been cast! And according to TV Line

A show insider confirms to TVLine exclusively that onetime Law & Order: Criminal Intent detective Jeff Goldblum and Broadway veteran Brian Stokes Mitchell have been tapped to play Hiram and LeRoy Berry, the adoptive parents of Lea Michele’s character.

Ooooh. Awesome casting.  Jeff Goldblum is one of my favorites.  In the pilot, Rachel points to a photo of her Dad’s on her book shelf. One is white and the other is African American.  The joke was that their sperm was mixed together for the birth mom (who turned out to be Shelby Corcoran) and Rachel had no clue which dad was her dad.

Correction:  Forget all that yammering about cannon. My bad.

Both these actors are pretty amazing.  Looking forward to their debut in the February 14 Valentines episode, titled “Heart.”

Goldblum has many TV and movie credits to his name, but is also an accomplished jazz pianist who made his Broadway debut back in 1971 in the Tony-winning musical Two Gentleman of Verona.

Mitchel has appeared in tons of Broadway productions, including Jelly’s Last Jam, Ragtime, Man of La Mancha and Kiss Me Kate (winning a 2000 Tony Award for Best Actor for that role.) TV credits include playing Kelsey Grammer’s onscreen nemesis on Frasier and  a Vanessa Williams love interest  on Ugly Betty.
