It’s the one year anniversary of the passing of Glee star, Cory Monteith. On July 13, 2013, the actor was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room. Later, an autopsy revealed that his death was caused by a toxic mixture of heroin and alcohol.

The 31 year old had spent his life battling demons, and unfortunately they eventually got the best of him. However, his friends and fans are choosing to remember the positive aspects of the legacy he left, no matter how brief. Cory was a fine actor, the heart and soul of Glee, and by all accounts a total mensch.

Here’s a roundup of tweets from some of the folks who knew Cory best–the cast and crew of Glee. Lea Michele, not only played his girlfriend on the show, but was also his partner in real life. It’s got to be an especially tough day for her.

Make sure to watch Cory’s very first behind the scenes video, posted at the bottom of the page. It was shot during the filming of the pilot in the fall of 2008, in a hopeful, more innocent time.
