Gabby Barrett Backs Out of 2021 CMT Music Awards Performance

Gabby Barrett will not perform on the 2021 CMT Music Awards, set to air tonight (June 9), as previously announced. The American Idol 2018 alum shared the news, citing “personal circumstances,” on social media.

“Still thinking back to last year’s CMT Music Awards performance and my very first award win.” Gabby wrote on Instagram. “Such a special moment that I will never forget.”

The “I Hope” singer continued, “I’m really sad to share that because of personal circumstances I won’t be able to perform with @ladya and @carlypearce on Wednesday at the @cmt Music Awards! I’ll be rooting for you guys and all of the incredibly talented nominees and performers!” She ended the message, “So appreciate all of your support and will see yall on the road this summer :)”

According to BillboardLindsay Ell will take Gabby’s place in a collaborative show performance with Lady A and Carly Pearce.

Hopefully, everything is fine with Gabby, her husband Cade Foehner and baby girl Baylah May.

Additionally, country star Maren Morris is also pulling out of the event, due to a “scheduling conflict.” Instead, Ingrid Andress will team with Canadian pop star JP Saxe to perform “Line by Line.”

2021 CMT Music Awards Lineup

Superstars Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown share co-hosting duties tonight and will each take the stage for highly-anticipated performances, Ballerini alongside Paul Klein from LANY and Brown with fellow country star Chris Young.

Other powerhouse collaborations include BRELAND Mickey Guyton, Brothers Osborne + Dierks BentleyH.E.R. + Chris StapletonLauren Alaina + Jon PardiMickey Guyton Gladys Knight, Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram + Jon Randall and NEEDTOBREATHE + Carrie Underwood. 

Solo performances include Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett. Additionally, Blanco Brown, Dylan Scott, Hailey Whitters, Lainey Wilson, Niko Moon and Tenille Arts will perform as part of the Ram Trucks Side Stage

Presenters include Anthony Mackie, Brett Young, Busy Philipps, Carly Pearce, Dylan Scott, Gladys Knight, Iliza Shlesinger, Little Big Town, Michael Strahan, Mickey Guyton, Restless Road, Tennessee Titans’ Taylor Lewan and Trace Adkins, as well as CMT Hot 20 Countdown hosts Cody Alan, Katie Cook and Ashley ShahAhmadi.
