FOX Announces Midseason Premiere Dates, Rent and The Masked Singer

FOX has announced the network’s mid-season premiere schedule for shows including The Masked Singer and Rent. Notably, The Four, which premiered its inaugural season last January, does not have a mid-season slot. The second season aired last summer, and didn’t match the first seasons ratings. The show has not been officially cancelled, however. Perhaps FOX plans to air the show only once a year, during the summer months.

The Masked Singer, premiering on Wednesday January 2, is hosted by Nick Cannon, with panelists Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke. This “top-secret celebrity singing competition” will have everyone asking, “who’s behind the mask?!” In other words, celebrities sing dressed up in goofy costumes and it’s up to the panelists and audience to figure out who they are. One celebrity “singer” will be eliminated every week, until a winner is crowned.

The live production of Rent stars Vanessa Hudgens, Jordan Fisher, Tinashe, Kiersey Clemons, Brandon Victor Dixon and more. The groundbreaking musical is a re-imagining of Puccini’s La Bohème, and set in New York City’s gritty East Village. “
