Fifth Harmony Set for FOX Pitbull New Year’s Eve Special

Once again, FOX attempts to compete with ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest,  with its own holiday special. Host-for-hire, Pitbull even gets a production and title credit a la Ryan Seacrest!  Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution begins LIVE from the New Thompson Miami Beach Hotel on Wednesday December 31.

Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, Fifth Harmony, The Band Perry and Becky G are set to perform. Additional talent to be announced.

The evening will also feature Pitbull performing his biggest hits, including collaborations with some of his closest friends, in front of thousands of fans, in Mr. 305’s hometown city of Miami, says the Official Press Release from FOX.  “Mr. Worldwide kicks off the celebration from the Thompson Miami Beach, the newest oceanfront lifestyle hotel in Miami Beach.”  I smell product placement!

The event kicks off between 8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed. Then, following local news, Pitbull’s New Year’s Eve Revolution returns from 11:00 PM-12:30 AM ET live (CT/MT/PT tape-delayed), for the “night’s hottest celebration.”

I was JUST thinking that there isn’t enough Pitbull on my TV.  Yes. That is sarcasm.  How did this dude come to the place where he’s asked to host everything on the planet? He’s not even that good.

All snarking aside. This special sounds much better than the years FOX broadcast live from Las Vegas in year’s past.  One year (2012) was even country themed.  Those specials were rinky-dink by comparison to the Dick Clark behemoth.

In any case, congrats to X Factor alums, Fifth Harmony, for scoring a televised New Years Eve gig.

Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution is a production of Endemol Live; Pitbull’s Endemol-based production company, Honey I’m Home; and Den of Thieves (producers on American Idol last season). Evan Prager and Jesse Ignjatovic serve as executive producers from Den of Theives and Joe DeMaio will direct.
