Erika Van Pelt Covers John Legend’s “Ordinary People” (VIDEO)

Season 11 alum, Erika Van Pelt, pledges to release a new cover once a week until her independent album drops in May. Check out her first offering, a lovely rendition of John Legend’s “Ordinary People.”

The singer has been keeping busy, according to an interview with THR, expanding her DJ business, booking modeling work and a high profile gig with Donald Trump.

Erika also performed at the Vice-Presidential ball on inauguration day. She even joined forces with Glee star, Darren Criss for an impromptu duet.

About her upcoming album, Erika tells THR, “I wanted to have a lot of creative freedom — basically the very opposite of [American Idol]. I didn’t have a ton of freedom with what I was doing on the show. I am 27 years-old and a grown woman. I know who I am as an artist. So I found an investor and a really great group of songwriters and a killer team of producers. It’s sort of this mishmash, motley crew of a bunch of really talented people, and it’s getting pieced together slowly. We are halfway done right now.”
