We’ve finally got a release date for Season 5 contestant, Elliott Yamin’s upcoming album. It’s May 5th according to Brian Mansfield of USA Today (and Idol Chatter).
Elliott has recorded about 35 songs for his sophomore effort, “Obviously, not all of them are going to make the record, but I’ve had time to branch out and work with as many people as possible.”
He’s working with an impressive list of producers including Jermaine Dupri, J.R. Rotem, Eman, Harvey Mason Jr., Steve Russell and Stargate.
Elliott says, “I’ve been working with people who’ve done a lot of contemporary stuff.”
He hasn’t picked out a first single, but he’s got a couple of contenders, “There’s a song called You that I did with Stargate. ¦ Then there’s Know Better that I did with this really talented production team called Midi Mafia. It’s a really hot track ‘ it’s got single potential written all over it.”
Hopefully, his hot team of producers can craft another hit for Elliott like the first single, “Wait For You, ” off of Elliott’s debut album Elliott Yamin. “Wait for You” peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Update: More on Elliott and his new Los Angeles home in the Idol Chatter blog. About songwriting, he says, “Ive been trying to write as much as possible, building my own catalog of songs that Ive co-written. At the same time, I’m trying to find the right fits for this record. Every song on the record got to be strong. Ive had the time.”
