Elliott Yamin Reports From Chile, Hopes to Go Home Soon

Update from Elliott: “man, situation is grim here!..we truly are in a disaster zone!..just like we always c on the news in the states.no flghts available anywhere.” Elliott’s brother Scott tweeted that E is OK on his insulin supply until he gets back to the states…(Elliott is Type 1 diabetic)

Elliott Yamin spoke to MSNBC today from Santiago, Chile about Friday night’s earthquake in Chile. Elliott was in Vina Del Mar for a music festival when the 8.8 earthquake hit.

Elliott and his fellow festival participants were bused from Vina Del Mar to Santiago yesterday, and, Elliott says, the festival officials are working on getting them all home.

Sitting at his computer at the time of the quake, Elliott was able to tweet some of the first reports from the disaster. News outlets soon picked them up, and Elliott has been busy doing television interviews ever since.

There have been many aftershocks since Friday night, the latest about 1 hour ago, “tremmmmmors as i am typing..early this morn, there was pretty big aftershock!!..the entire entire room was swaying back & forth!”

Scary stuff! Stay safe Elliott. Thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Chile.

  1. I wonder how he’s doing for insulin? I guess he’s found a supplemental supply there in Santiago or he’d be telling MSNBC that he could use some assistance.

  2. Suzanne, the scary part is…I don’t think Elliott would have bought up the insulin problem in the MSNBC interview if he wasn’t asked. I still have my doubts about him and his insulin.

Elliott, please stay safe and come home soon. I always thought…there’s a little Yaminian in every Soul Patroller.

  3. My prayers go out to everyone in Chile. Hopefully Elliott is in a position to get his insulin and able to get home ASAP.

  4. Scott Yamin tweeted this about 2 hours ago.

scottyamin @elliottyamin fans/friends- he is A-OK on insulin/pump supplies till he gets back to the States. thank you all for your concern! much love!

  5. What a scary experience for him. Glad he got some insulin supplies. My prayers to the people in Chile.

Good. I was concerned about him. Diabetes is nothing to mess around with.

  7. As a fellow diabetic I have learned the hard way to pack at least twice the amount of insulin, or other diabetic or BP meds, as I did
run out years ago, but luckily did find a clinic who gave me scrips. I had my containers to prove my need. It does make you panic though untill solutions click in!
It is great though that Elliott has the reporting to keep him busy and that he is able to help in some way. Must be devastating to see this kind of chaos and damage.
