E! recently announced a new music competition, Clash of the Cover Bands, executive produced by Jimmy Fallon Set to premiere later this year, the network announced the cast.  So You Think You Can Dance alum Stephen “tWitch” Boss serves as host and celebrity judges include singer and former The Four and The Voice UK panelist Meghan Trainor, American Idol alum and Queen frontman Adam Lambert and hit songwriter Ester Dean.

In each episode, two bands of similar musical genre (e.g. Pop Divas, Boy Bands, Heavy Metal, etc) go head-to-head over the course of two rounds to see which band has the most entertaining cover performance, with a chance to win a cash prize and bragging rights.

Adam Lambert has appeared on slew of reality panels

Adam has appeared on a slew of competition shows as a regular or guest judge/mentor. The list includes returning to American Idol to mentor on Season 9 and season 13, and as a guest judge on season 14. He guest judged on Project Runway and RuPaul’s Drag Race. Plus, he served on the X Factor Australia judges panel in 2016. Currently, he’s filming the ITV competition Starstruck in London. He’ll be sitting on the judges panel alongside Sheridan Smith, Jason Manford and Beverly Knight. On the show, ordinary members of the public will transform into some of the world’s biggest movie icons. X Factor alum and The Voice UK coach Olly Murs will host.

Currently, tWitch is an executive producer on the Ellen Degeneres Show, gearing up for it’s last season in 2021-2022. Ester Dean sat on the Songland panel for two seasons. Hopefully this new gig does not mean that NBC has cancelled the show, which finds and promotes new songwriting talent.

Clash of the Cover Bands is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Electric Hot Dog with Jimmy Fallon and Jim Juvonen serving as executive producers.
