Another Dancing with the Stars pro has fallen ill with Covid-19. Val Chmerkovskiy announced the news via social media on Friday (Oct 28). His partner, Bachelorette Gabby Windey, has so far tested negative. Alan Bersten will step in for the pro-dancer next week.

“Got some bad news,” Val announced, “I unfortunately tested positive for Covid and will not be able to perform this Monday.” The pro dancer continued, “It sucks majorly for lack of a better more profound word.”

“But the good thing is that Gabby tested negative so we’re still in it,” said Val, “The great thing is that we have some awesome pros on the show, one of them being Alan who’s going to step in and learn the routine and partner Gabby this Monday.”

Val continued, “And thirdly, hopefully you guys will vote us through for another week and I’ll be back next week.” Val is really disappointed to miss out on the spooky season. “Again, this is a huge bummer. I’m very disappointed. I feel like I let some people down and selfishly was really looking forward to this week’s routine being Halloween being Argentine Tango. I really, really love this routine.”

There is a silver lining, “But the good thing is that Gabby knows that Gabby’s ready and Alan’s going to do a great job and you guys are going to vote us through. So, I’ll be back again next week. Again, thank you for all your support all season long. I feel fine, I will be back. This is a minor setback for a major comeback and thank you.”

Val is the second pro to test positive for COVID 19 this season

Whether Val comes back in one week depends on if he tests negative for COVID or not. Before week 2, pro dancer Daniella Karagach tested positive for COVID-19, but it took her two weeks to recover. Her partner, Joseph Baena performed with dance troupe member, Alexis Warr, for Week 2 (Elvis Night) and Week 3 (Bond Night.)

Voters and judges scores eliminated Alan and his partner Jessie James Decker this past week (Oct 24), which frees him up to partner with Gabby while Val is out with COVID.

Dancing with the Stars streams on Disney+ Monday October 31 at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT. The remaining 9 couples will dance to songs with a Halloween theme. Check out all the spoilers, including dance styles and song choices HERE.
