Dancing with the Stars pro dancer, Derek Hough, has joined the third season of the ABC musical drama, Nashville, for a multi-episode arc.
Deadline reports that Derek will play, “Noah West, a beguiling and disarming movie star who will cross paths with the players of Nashville’s music realm for the first time when he’s tapped for a leading role in the biopic of a famous country singer.”
Derek has experience and training as a singer, but I think, so far, he’s left the country twanging up to sister, fellow pro dancer, Julianne, who released a self-titled country album in 2008. It’s Derek’s first major acting role. Let’s see if he has the chops.
It will be a busy fall for Derek. He’ll also be competing on the upcoming 19th season of Dancing with the Stars, which premieres on September 15 . I’m sure ABC already has plans to film dance rehearsals on the Nashville set. No doubt Derek was tapped for the role with cross-promotion in mind. The pro is also currently promoting his new memoir, Taking The Lead: Lessons From A Life in Motion.
