According to people who were sitting in the audience at last night’s American Music Awards in Los Angeles, when it came time to hand out the Favorite R&B Male Soul Artist award, it clearly said “Chris Brown” on the teleprompter, but the award was handed out to Usher instead.

Was Chris Brown snubbed by the American Music Awards because of his domestic violence issues with ex-girlfriend Rihanna? Or did the producers decide to give the award to Usher instead of an absent Chris Brown (Although, other nominees who weren’t present won awards, like Carrie Underwood for Favorite Country Album) OR, was it simply a mistake on the teleprompter? Hm.
At any rate, the Chris Brown fans are up in arms. If Brown got the most votes, he should have been awarded the prize, public relations be damned…
Also, Lady Gaga’s manager believes that Justin Bieber got her Best Artist Award because she could not be there to accept it.
Geez, who hasn’t thought at one time or another that the fan-voted, Dick Clark created American Music Awards were kind of bogus? #NotASurprise
