Demi Lovato stopped at Good Morning America this morning ahead of her performance tomorrow on the summer series to talk about her new single, “Made in the USA” that’s going out to radio today, the upcoming X Factor season, and the recent death of her father.
“My father and I didn’t have the most ideal relationship,” confessed Demi on how she’s coping in the aftermath of his passing, “But, at the end of the day, he’s still my dad and I grew up with him, he was a wonderful person. It’s difficult, but I’m handling it OK.”
Demi, who has been honest about her struggles with eating disorders and mental illness, revealed that her father struggled with mental health issues as well. This week, the singer will be launching the Lovato Treatment Scholarship program. “I’m helping one person at a time,” she said, “I’m going to pay for their treatment.”
