Baltimore native Davon Fleming got his footing in music by performing at his family’s church. Growing up in a very musically inclined family, Davon was exposed at a young age to the wonders of jazz, gospel, and classical music, and quickly became impassioned with the field. By the age of 3 he was already performing in the church, and by 16 he was providing background vocals for various artists. Later on he would work with mainstream recording artists such as Ricky Dillard, Kim Burrell, Kirk Franklin, and Karen Clark among others. Nowadays Davon is more focused on pursuing his solo career, and has already released his first single, “I Need You.”

“My music is a combination of everything from jazz to gospel, hip hop to classical,” Davon said on cdbaby.com about his single. “Every song is created to uplift, inspire, and spread the message of LOVE. My mission is to heal the world with music and give hope to people all people. Singing is my pathway to a freeing moment and my music is my pride and joy.”

“I Need You” was written by Grammy nominated producer, Josh Lay. The song is described as an “uplifting feel good song that penetrates the heart.” You can check it out in the below video.

In addition to his appearance on The Voice, Davon has also appeared on Preachers Of LA, and Sunday Best, a reality singing competition show featuring gospel singers, where he placed in the top 20. Regarding his upcoming run on The Voice, Davon will bring to the season his unshakeable faith in god, strong voice, and desire to share music that will make people happy.

Overall Thoughts: Davon is a solid singer, but of this batch of contestants I don’t quite see him making it to the finale. I hate to say it, but I just think there are other contestants this season that are a lot more interesting and more people are likely to get behind and vote for. This isn’t me saying he isn’t talented, it’s just how seasons have gone down in the past. My advice to him though is to go big with his song choices and keep things current. With some big moments he might be able to solidify some votes and last a couple of weeks into the competition.

Song Suggestions:
1- Earned It, by The Weeknd
2- Slow Hands, by Niall Horan
3- I’m Not The Only One, by Sam Smith
