Sorry a bit of the beginning got cut off. Damn local affiliate! If a better video shows up, I’ll replace.

That dark haired dude with Kelly is Mark Consuelos, her husband, filling in for Regis…

David is making the talk show rounds. He’ll be appearing on the Larry King Live holiday special, December 23, 9 ET/PT pm on CNN.

  1. Oh loved how he looked and how much he has matured in his performance style and his interview skills!
    lol the family pic!!
nice very nice! one thing I noticed also was how they emphasized that he wrote MOC?! Guessing that is why they chose to do that song?
Opposite to what he did yesterday and hmm he still has FOX & Friends and LKL tomorrow! Guessing HYAMLC and Ave Maria?
    Can’t wait!
Love this mature David and dang it hope he has some more appearances before his next CD comes out or I will flip!
ok venting done but a good thing is meant to be taken down off the shelf and used mighty often!
    Way to go David!
    Hey all….
    Merry Christmas!!

  2. Archie unfailingly does a great job. Now, if he would just be a little more careful about his pronunciation of “Christmas” and not occasionally sing “crease-mas.” LOL

  3. Merry Christmas to you too, KimK, and I’m already worried bout the drought. That’s got to be normal, however, for the invested fans of Idol stars. They have to take the time now and again to produce more material.

Saw this bit on TV with the full interview. Loved every little bit.

  4. I don’t know. Not one of his best vocals, but he seemed pleased enough. If he, indeed, had a hand in writing that one, you’d have tought he would’ve considered what key would be best for him and would’ve made sure that most of the song fell w/in the pocket of his voice. Too much lower register and too rangey. Pleasant though.

  5. larc
oh goodness thought that was just me who noticed that…
is that a Utahn way of saying it? hmm…

  6. Great job David. Such a wide and rich range he has! He has said morning is not his best time, but I thought it was great.

I guess we still have the two tomorrow, plus the sun bowl performance.

The pronunciation of Christmas is probably left over from all of the other languages he has been singing in– not a Utah thing…..

  7. Now, if he would just be a little more careful about his pronunciation of ‘Christmas’ and not occasionally sing ‘crease-mas.’ LOL

oh goodness thought that was just me who noticed that’ ¦
is that a Utahn way of saying it? hmm’ ¦

lol He has a few definitely “Utahn” pronunciation thingies that pop out now and again. lol One I’ve noticed: He’ll occasionally revert to “ta” instead of “to”. And sometimes “too” comes out “tew”. lol

  8. I think he was slightly nervous at first, but then kicked the nerves to the curb and did a great job. Well done David “-) Next stop Larry King Live!!!

  9. carolinacharms I actually agree but for me it was the song choice? hmm I may have chosen one that highlights his vocal abilities more perhaps? Maybe you are right about the key …. I have no idea as not informed on all that. That is why I was thinking they wanted to do one he wrote? But yes in general quite nice! He seems a lot more confident lately and that seems to be a biggie for success in the dog eat dog world of Musicland.
But he will be on tomorrow twice so can’t wait to see what he will sing! One thing I have seen myself he has an amazing live voice and the only thing stopping him from super stardom seems to be all that goes along with it…
and from what I could tell in Baltimore he has stepped up to take care of that…
never would have thought I would see him run into the audience or dance on stage…

KathyH ha yes we are all missing him already… and he is still on TV! I was spoiled in Baltimore as he was so much better then all the videos and his performance was amazing…. ha front row center did me in!! Spoiled rotten and loving it!!

  10. ^^^ Nah. I don’t think he was nervous. It’s just that he usually ends up on these early morning shows and radio programs and he complains of “morning voice” a lot.

And actually, he’s got Fox & Friends tomorrow morning, then Larry King tomorrow night.

  11. I was sort of thinking that was the Hispanic influence. His mother pronounces some words decidedly different. Who knows? I’m not bothered by that, either. Oh wells.

  12. I don’t know. Not one of his best vocals, but he seemed pleased enough. If he, indeed, had a hand in writing that one, you’d have tought he would’ve considered what key would be best for him and would’ve made sure that most of the song fell w/in the pocket of his voice. I totally agree with you. The song wasn’t a good match for him…especially in that key.
I hesitate ever saying anything negative about Archie. I feel like I am kicking a puppy square in the mouth. He is so adorable! Merry Chreeesemas!!!

  13. :)

He looked like he was having fun singing it and I had a blast watching it. David looked great as always! Watching David having a blast singing HIS Christmas song is so special. (I couldn’t go to a concert) :(

ha ha :) Kelly said she loves Feliz Navidad her fav Christmas song. David could sing a great Feliz Navidad for her. :)

  14. lol lol lol Man now im going to hear ‘creeeasemas’ in my head anytime someone types christmas. Now that someone has mentioned it. haha oh dear.

  15. David was wonderful on R&K. Hi is such a genuine person. That song is one of my favorites on the album. I think it could become a Christmas classic.

It’s sort of weird to me how every little thing any idol does gets critiqued to death. It doesn’t happen with other artists nearly as much. I suppose that because they are coming from Idol, everyone is just used to critizing the performances. Apparently, watching former Idols perform on TV automatically brings out the inner Simon in some of us! Lol!

  16. Me too Frog. haha! Maybe that’s really Ricky Archuleta singing. lololol

  17. That’s it! I kept thinking of some celebrity who used similar pronuncitations, and when you posted, JRB, I thought of Ricky Ricardo! So maybe the “creeesmas” is David’s inner Ricky (also Latino, right?) coming out. LOLOL!

David seems to revert to more Latin pronunciations when around Latinos. Like, er, Kelly and her husband.

  18. Yeah, I think it’s the Latino in him causing him to pronounce the “i” as an “ee.” Well, at least he did not close his eyes as much this time around. LOL! I think he did swell.

He’s probably giving us a taste of the variety of songs on his album, hence the choice of song today. Last week he sang “Ave Maria” on Nuestra Navidad. Yesterday he sang “Angels We Have Heard On High” on the Today Show. Tomorrow he’ll probably sing something different for the Fox and Friends show and still something else for Larry King Live.

ETA: Oh, and he sang “Silent Night” on the Kaleidoscope skating show.

  19. Fantastic that DA is still so well received on the talk show circuit, despite not being this year’s idol. Glad that his album is doing well.

The song for me is a fail. Too all over the place, i could not follow the song at all. If he had sung it well, then at least it would be a vocal showcase for him. But the song is too much for him unf.

LOL at the need to explain “That dark haired dude with Kelly is Mark Consuelos, her husband,”. I had a soap-crush on Mark Consuelos back in the day, well before Kelly Ripa became “Mrs” Regis. In a land littered with male babes, Mr Consuelos continues decades later to be the hottest man in soap opera land. (Kelly & Mark met & married on their soap, was it 1 Life to Live?, both on the show and in real life.)

  20. Laurie he is amazing and well maybe in the past would of freaked out by some by the critique (like his eyes being closed thing) and all but not any more as David is really a wonderful talent in so any ways and feel his career will only soar! this performance was not bad at all!
hmm I have seen many places where they critique other performers not associated with idol. seems there is a site for just about everything these days. ha but lately just keep coming back to David… just draws you in and keeps you dry and warm from the cold.
Oh by the way I would love to go where he goes when he sings with his eyes closed… almost seems spiritual for him in a way?
    I think it is wonderful!

umm… hope he keeps up the ‘Creasemas’ thing!
Ha come on guys can you watch those Westbury vids without your face just stuck in smile mode! Man wish I was there!!!

  21. Oops – too late to edit. I meant to type He is such a genuine person, not Hi is such a genuine person!

I do know that many artists outside of the idol bubble get critiqued as well, just not as often, or for such little details was the point I was trying to make. For those who don’t like the song, give it a listen on the cd, because it is really very good and very cohesive. I really like the lyrics too.

  22. Dec 21 ‘“ Today Show
    Dec 22 ‘“ Regis & Kelly
Dec 23 ‘“ Larry King Live!
Dec 24 ‘“ Fox & Friends Christmas Special?
Dec 31 ‘“ Helen of Troy Half-Time Performance Sun Bowl

It has been a long while since David has had this much FACE TIME on tv and I’m loving it–closed eyes, morning voice, whatevah. GREAT EXPOSURE! And how thrilling is it that he got a chance to do HIS song (which I like very much). I hope this performance gives CFTH a nice bump like the Today show.

So maybe the ‘creeesmas’ is David’s inner Ricky (also Latino, right?) coming out. LOLOL!

David has always reminded me of Ricky Ricardo whenever his does his hearty laugh.

  23. Mark Consuelos and Kelly were on “All My Children” (and will be returning after the new year for a special appearance). I usually don’t care for him in the co-host chair, but that’s given over to acceptance since he’s harmless. Also on R&K today was the Consuelos family trip to Tavern on the Green and I have to say that their littlest one is totally adorable.

I’m very impressed with Archie for penning his Christmas ditty and presenting it so ably (accept for the mic handling where it sat pressed against his upper lip the whole time). He come across as so poised, yet so modest at such a young age.

  24. I get a “Ricky Ricardo” vibe from David when he sings or speaks spanish too!

I really like MOC…I think it’s a nice modern Chirstmas song and it seems to stay stuck in my head after hearing it.

I think David did great on R&K and I loved how much they promoted and seem to love CFTH!

  25. from his facebook:
Tune in to Fox News Channel to watch David perform on Fox and Friends tomorrow morning at 6am!

  26. Also on R&K today was the Consuelos family trip to Tavern on the Green and I have to say that their littlest one is totally adorable.

Did you notice that one part when Kelly was arm in arm with her oldest son and how irritated he appeared by it, so much so that he pried her hand off of his arm. He must be going through that difficult, sulky teenage phase. Somehow, I can’t imagine David as ever being that way. We’ve seen pictures of him with his Mom proudly arm in arm and smiling happily and even dueting with her.

Has there been a co-host on R&K who wasn’t harmless? Kelly and Mark always bring a smile to my face when I see them on the show. Their banter during the Nicole Kidman interview was hilarious.

You can tell Kelly is a huge Archie fan – she says she’s been playing his Christmas CD at their house since Thanksgiving.

  28. Loved the performance and the respect David was shown. I love all this “Archie” attention and so glad he is home for some R&R before his Dec 31 bowl appearance. His shows tommorrow Fox And Friends and Larry King Live have been taped already. Whoever taped the Fox show was raving about Archie’s voice.
Is it me or does it seem David gets more nitpicking here than anyone else???. I say relax and enjoy, we are no longer voting.

Tune in to Fox News Channel to watch David perform on Fox and Friends tomorrow morning at 6am!

Oops! Thanks for the correction. :)

  30. He not only looks great, but sounded great as well. Glad he chose to sing MOC. Loving all the exposure he’s getting lately. Can’t wait until next year–rest up David!

  31. He does look great here. Very handsome, dignified. Growing up.

I’d love to hear Pat-a-pan on one of these shows.

I thought he sounded good but not great. (don’t attack me–just being honest) David almost never sounds less than good, and the middle and ending were great, but the beginning was only okay. Like he just didn’t feel confident or couldn’t hear very well at first.

I love the exposure for him. I wonder how many albums he needs to sell for it to be successful? (To be clear, I’m thinking that there’s a sales goal that the label wants such that the proceeds pay for the production, distribution, and marketing with a profit for the company. Just wondering what that might be and if the sales will meet the goal?)

  32. Im sure he’s probably past that goal, wasnt very expensive to make….
considering say 153k albums sold(not including this week) x 10.99 is about 1.68mil in sales

(it was on sale at itunes for 7.99 for a while but digital sales only account for about 16k sales total roughly, and its normally priced between $10-$13 in most places so i went with 10.99 average) Fuzzy Math. lol

and yes im hoping for patapan on one of these shows… but im betting not.. :(

  33. I’d love to hear Pat-a-pan on one of these shows.

and yes im hoping for patapan on one of these shows’ ¦ but im betting not.

Well, he did do Pat-a-pan for the Kaleidoscope on Thanksgiving Day. But I would love to see him do it again especially since it a fun song (different from what’s out there) and I like the way he rocks it. :)

  34. Kelly is so cute and Mark is handsome. David is down to earth as usual. I am glad that they emphasized his writing for the song. I wonder what he is going to sing on Larry King Live, tomorrow. Larry loves David.

Oh, I just found out that he is going to sing along with Andrea Bocelli, Kenny Rogers, Queen Latifah etc.

  35. They only aired Silent Night on Kaleidoscope though. The only way we saw Pat-A-Pan and The First Noel was because of the ninja fans in the audience. lol

Frog – “Fuzzy Math” lol. That’s like the controller we once had at my company that said when the month end books didn’t balance, “Oh well, it’ll all come out in the wash.” lolz

  36. Did any of yaw’ll happen to catch David Letterman last night? Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz did a duet singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” It was a total meh! A veritable snoozefest galore. I was expecting so much more from them. David and Charice can run circles around those two, at least on that song anyway.

ETA: I know they have a more laid back style (not big voice types), but even so, I expected them to sing it with some feeling, but there was none of that.

  37. Didn’t see that, ozarka. I do like Colbie’s husky voice and Jason’s songwriting, but I really think David can sing circles around most anyone. Can’t understand those who don’t hear that, but oh well.

I’ve heard this morning that David is singing AWHHOH on the Fox show and Pat-A-Pan (!!!) on Larry King!

  38. pat-a-pan for the win – love that song, and riu riu chiu… they add a flavor and international texture to this cd that i think sets it apart from the ”standard” christmas release from pop artists… it’s a versatility that serves him well.

  39. I watched the show live really didn’t care for David’s performance. The song itself was not interesting and he really didn’t sing it well.
I’ve heard that the acoustics are not that good in that studio, though.

  40. from larry king live…..

    @kingthings

Holiday music show tonight w/ Sting
    @Davidarchie
    @katherinemcphee Andrea Bocelli,
    Kenny Rogers, Harlem Choir,
    @ShawnieOra + Queen Latifah

i’m watching the whole show – this looks to be good…

  41. david had another great performance on the fox and friends show this morning… he looked great, sang ”angels we have heard on high” great, and nice to hear all the hosts comment throughout the broadcast about his beautiful voice… say whatcha wanna, this is an undeniable fact… think he taped this right after regis and kelly, and he really brought it home… never cared much for steve doocey on fox till today – his inner fanboy seemed to come out when interviewing david briefly before and after he sang, hehe… he gets a couple cool points for recognizing talent when it’s standing in front of him… :D

eta… christmas cd up 10 spots to number 39 on itunes since the start/end of the fox broadcast – 2nd highest idol alum cd on their chart – not bad david, not bad at all…

  42. GGdoors, that LKL show does sound good. I’m going to watch the whole thing too.

I thought David did very well this morning — a strong performance of AWHOH than yesterday’s.

  43. David Archuleta, Christmas From the Heart (31,000, +2 percent, 185,000) (Idol Chatter)

These are the #s for CFTH for last week, it will definitely sell more than 200K for the season. WOOT!!

I saw David performance on F&F on utube. What a difference a year makes. You can see and hear the confidence he has gained when he is speaking.

Glad to hear that he will be performing Pat-a-pan on LKL. Hopefully these performances will give the cd a quantium boost in sales for the last few days of Christmas shopping.

  45. Pad-thai-a-pan FTW! He knocked it out of the ballpark (he always does).
