The set list included: “Somethin’ Bout Love”, “My Hands”, “Elevator”, “Angels” and “Crush”.

As a former Pittsburgher, I got a kick out of David’s post-show tweet: “Went to eat at Primanti Bros. after the show. Wow… Haha it’s an experience! Good turkey and chili!”

I like the pastrami with french fries and coleslaw on the sandwich, myself! Heh.

Videos are being uploaded today by 8throwcenter. I’ll post them as they become available.

  1. Really an amazing performance of Angels there. And I’m liking the changes he has been making to My Hands at some of these acoustic shows — it’s one of my favorite live songs of his anyway but with the changes it’s killer.

  2. David looks and sounds good!

AND Speaking of Pittsburgh food — I’m partial to another Pittsburgh specialty — steak salad — with french fries and “French” dressing.

  3. My Hands became one of my tour favorites. I love that song! I wasn’t quite sure about it at first on the cd, but then David turned it into a total gem for me in concert.

French fries and “french” dressing… hmm.. kinda sounds good! :)

  4. He’s looking and sounding Fantastic!! Nothing like a LIVE performance by David….and for a good cause. Oh and love the food tweet post show!!

Another steak salad fan! I went to school in Pittsburgh and used to eat this all the time. When I try to describe it to people they look at me like I’m crazy.

And yeah, as usual, David’s voice shines.

Totally agree. When I first heard “My Hands” when the song was first leaked, I hated it. But it has become my absolute favorite to see him perform live…I’ll never get tired of hearing it!

  7. I love My Hands, one of my favs from the first album. And yes, my unpopular opinion, I also loooove Elevator, def one of my favs on the new album!

Also, I LOVE that he does that audience participation thing with the end of Elevator now. haha. So funny.

  8. Just got a chance to watch the Elevator and Crush vids. LOL at him signing a fan’s CD in the middle of the show! Elevator is such a fun concert song.

Crush sounded great. Really strong performances last night.

  9. David Archuletta performing at a bar is akin to David Allen Coe gigging at a church bake sale. Doesn’t easily compute.

  10. Lock dem bar and church doors. Keep people in their places! (Except not. Sorry.) Didn’t seem to me that David or the crowd had a problem with him being where he was.

Loved these versions of Angels and Elevator too. And yes, good heavens I love the improvs in My Hands, always.

  11. I love anGels, elevator, my hands, crush actually i love all the performances lol! to think that the show was for charity cause makes it more special to me!

Thank you david for sharing your God given talent and by participating in this kind of noteworthy cause event! You rock! i will TRUST THE ARCHULETA for life !

  12. sooo much Archuleta coming at us the last few weeks. and yet i find it impossible to overdose on him. Paula was right. he’s a gem.

  13. Idol does seem to produce a lot of sweethearts! Glad to see so many Pittsburgers, former and current posting on your site, MJ. I am also from Pgh and have always preferred the capicola and cheese sandwich at Primanti’s! Dang now I’m hungry…

  14. loved all the performances from David last night… Angels was divine and seemed appropriate as I think it was a reburbished Catholic church… now a bar…
oh and loved the banter in Elevator! way to go gals… it seemed a great night!

  15. OK, I was born and bread an Ohio State Buckeye, but we moved West from Pittsburgh 10 years ago! I have a big soft spot for that place! David has been doing a lot of shows in that western PA and Ohio area.

  16. Chronic lurker here but I had to post cos I was at this gig last night… my FIRST time seeing David! I adore this guy and the Altar Bar (just a 10 minute drive from my apartment) was an excellent venue to see him up close. I’ve not watched the videos yet but really looking forward to doing so. Nice to see all “yinz” chatting about Pittsburgh… and sadly, I’ve not had a Primanti’s sandwich for over 20 years!

  17. Wow, beth1114, so cool that you were there and got to see David for the first time so up close like that!

David looks and sounds great in these videos. ETA: just realized that I had quoted kmd here!

It’s inspiring how much he gets into each song and shares that emotion with the audience. I also heard traces of the Archie-growl in some of the songs. :)

  18. Wow… I just got done watching the videos. Must thank 8throwcenter for sharing the videos via this blog… from the view, she had to be standing near me at the gig! I noticed David watching the Gin Blossoms (they performed after him)sitting by the backstage door – I do believe he was tweeting at that time!

HappyDaisy: Thanks for the comment… appreciate it!

  19. Beth,

I mentioned that I grew up in Ohio. Well my dad was from Derry PA and I remember going to visit cousins there and we thought the way they talked was so funny!!

Congrats on getting to see David live!

  20. LK10…

Yeah, we do have a language of our own here – not to mention a sort of “nasal” accent as well. I giggle when I watch the VH1 Top 20 Videos countdown cos the host, Jim Shearer, is from here and he always ends the show with something like, “I’ll see YINZ next time.”

  21. David sounds great. It was so nice of him to lend out his shirt to Crystal Bowersox for her WMMX gig.
