David Archuleta Good Morning America

David Archuleta dropped by Good Morning America on Monday (April 23) to chat about Sunday night’s American Idol Top 14 performance show.

The American Idol season 7 runner-up named a favorite–Catie Turner. She’s the singer who impressed the judges with a performance of Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.”

“She just sings with her soul,” David told host Michael Strahan. “It feels like she disconnects from everything, and connects to something bigger. It was a lot of fun to watch her.”

David also name checked Gabby Barrett, Dennis Lorenzo, and Michael J. Woodard as favorites. “When people give you goosebumps, I think they’re doing a good job.” said David.

Michael mentioned that some of the contestants were 16–the same age David was when he competed. “Remember why you decided to audition in the first place,” is the advice David would give to the “youngsters.” He added, “If you stick to that and keep going with what you love to do, you should be good.”

David ended the segment chatting about his latest studio album, Postcards in the Sky. It’s been TEN years since David competed on Idol.
