Darren Criss Plays Two Benefits in New York City (Videos)

Glee star, Darren Criss is in New York City to begin rehearsals for a 3 week stint in the Broadway musical, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

On January 3, Darren is stepping into the lead role, replacing Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe.

Soon after Glee wrapped shooting for the show’s holiday break early Saturday morning, Darren had landed in New York to perform a charity gig, “Sing Out, Raise Hope” with the Yale Whiffenpoofs (The Sing-Off alums!) to benefit The Trevor Project and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Here are a couple of performances from the benefit.

In the spirit of Glee mashups, Darren combines Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time” and Beethoven’s “Fur Elise”. Yes seriously. It’s pretty awesome.

And in lieu of Chris Colfer, Darren sings “Baby It’s Cold Outside” with Glee’s “silent” piano player, Brad Ellis. “You’re no Chris Colfer”. Tee hee.

The next day, Darren performed another benefit–this time, a “secret show” for Toys For Tots. Fans had 5 hours notice to arrive at Joe’s Pub, toy in hand, to hopefully snag one of the 100 available tickets.
