American Idol season 8 alum Danny Gokey drops a fun retro music video for his new Christmas song, “The Holidays are Here.” The Christian contemporary singer performs against a white backdrop and Christmas decorations. His band members play vintage instruments (check out the Paul McCartney bass) and Danny strikes a pose at the end. Also, his four children, Daniel, Victoria, Gabriel, and Emmanuel appear in the clip.

The song comes from the singer’s new Christmas album, The Greatest Gift: The Christmas Collection. In a recent interview with Celebmix, Danny shared his thoughts about the holiday:

I know it’s cliche to say this, but it really is a special time of the year. To me, it seems this is the only holiday where almost everyone takes off of work, and everyone slows down to enjoy the season. It seems like this world keeps turning and turning and never stops for anything. Many believe money has become the ultimate goal, but Christmas teaches us differently that it’s not about what you are getting, it’s about what you are giving. I think there’s a beauty in the holiday that is putting others first and treating each other right, and I felt like this year was the perfect time to release the album.

Also on the album, Danny joins American Idol season 7 alum David Archuleta for a Spanish language version of “Silent Night” titled “Noche de Paz.”

Currently, Danny is on a Christmas tour with Natalie Grant. Check out their tour schedule HERE. In addition, Danny has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, for “Haven’t Seen it Yet” in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and for the album Haven’t Seen it Yet in the Best Christian Music Album category.  The Grammy Awards take place on Sunday January 26.
