Dancing With the Stars – Semifinals!

Sorry everyone, I had a previous commitment 6-8 tonight so I missed to first 5 minutes of the show!

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – I didn’t get to see their dance!  But the judges are coming down hard.  I didn’t see the dance, but I can only wonder if they’re just trying to get rid of Hope and overly praise their pet Rob.  We’ll see later in the show.  Carrie Ann – 7 Len – 7 Bruno – 7 – 21.  Ouch! 1-800-VOTE4-08

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff – Paso Doble – J.R.’s legs are too bent, and it’s arching his back in a way that it shouldn’t be.  His movements are great, but I just don’t feel like they are manly enough for this.  That was definitely very very good, but not 10 worthy.  It’s the small things, J.R!  He’s going to win, and the judges are going to love him anyway.  Extended standing O from the audience!  Bruno loved the role play but the posture was not quite there all the way through.  YAY I AGREE.  Carrie Ann applauds him for taking on the dance with a hurt ankle.  She didn’t like the posture, and their were a few moments of uncertain pauses that she hasn’t seen before.  Len said the paso doble didn’t suit J.R. at all.  It was more zero than Zoro.  Carrie Ann – 8 Len – 7 Bruno – 8 – 23.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke – Samba – Cheryl loves the dance and it means a lot to her.  More emphasis on Rob’s butt.  Hip action doesn’t mean you canstick out your butt though, Rob.  Lots of hip shaking and pretty colors.  This is good!  Awkward samba rolls.  Ah Rob’s losing it and getting lazy in his movements.  The crowd doesn’t love Rob, they love his butt.  Confetti!  That was cool.  Carrie Ann says it was amazing, he was light on his feet, he didn’t miss anything, it was fantastic.  Len thought it would be a mess, but when he started dancing he said “oh yes.”  Bruno said he exceeded all expectations, and there’s no stopping him now.  Kris JEnner is a proud momma.  Carrie Ann – 10 Len – 9 Bruno – 9 – 28.  Carrie Ann is in love with him.  Kris Jenner is crying.  1-800-VOTE4-02.  UGH GOING AFTER JR BLAH BLAH BLAH.  Focus on the contestant please, I’m starting to not like J.R. just because he’s mentioned every two seconds.

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough – Samba – Let’s see the come-back Ricki!  I love her arm extensions!  Very synchronated, and both staccato and fluid when necessary.  Hip action is great, and is only accented by that frilly “stuff!”  Leg lifts are tight and in sync.  I love a good dance when I see one, and that was a GREAT performance!  Len loved how it was no antics, straight dancing, and it was fantastic.  Bruno called her hot and sizzling from beginning to end.  He’s dazzled.  Carrie Ann said her shoulders made all the difference in the world and it was fabulous.  Carrie Ann – 10 Len – 10 Bruno – 10 – 30! yaaay Ricky!  Derickylous!  1-800-VOTE4-11.

Argentine Tango Round! The argentine tango is my favorite ballroom/Latin dance.  Len says ballroom is like a husband and wife, but the tango is like a husband and his GIRLFRIEND.  Demonstration by pros!  Those lifts were insanity!  That was a-freaking-mazing!

Sob story time!

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Argentine Tango – Hope was always a daddy’s girl.  When her parents got divorced she didn’t know what to do.  He was a Vietnam veteran and loved his family very much.  He didn’t have the capacity to be a father and husband.  He basically kidnapped Hope and her brother, and her mother did not know where they were.  Her father was their hero, but one day they heard sirens and she watched him getting handcuffed and forced into a police car.  At one game, she saw a homeless man whom she recognized  as her father, and they reconnected.  In 2007, her father passed away before the World Cup, and the coach put in a different goalie.  She was kicked off the team for her comments and went into depression.  She found her way again though, and now she’s even more successful.  Her father made her a stronger person.  Phew!  Dance time.  Whatever Lola Wants!  The beginning is flawless!  Love the gauchos and the hip swivels.  Lifts are amazing as well.  So much passion in this.  Lifts!  Ah this is phenomenal.  Hope is whipping out the big guns when it counts–that was INCREDIBLE!  Len loved the opening and when she got out onto the floor he wasn’t disappointed.  Bruno said she looked extremely angry the whole time, but it was very controlled and great.  Carrie thought she improved and the fluidity was great, but her ins and outs of lifts weren’t as graceful.  Maks basically says Carrie Ann’s comment doesn’t pertain to him.  Carrie Ann – 8 UGH Len – 8 Bruno – 8 – 24.  STOP.  THEY WANT HER OFF THE SHOW.  That was amazing.  1-800-VOTE4-08.  Night score is 45.

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff – Argentine Tango – J.R.’s sob story is probably an amazing one.  It’s about his time in war, and how he become totally injured.  He wanted to die, and hit rock bottom when he saw his face for the first time.  He thought nobody would ever love him and people would just look at him with fear.  He is really an inspiration, and he is proving to people that you can go out no matter what your circumstance is.  He thought he was going to die.  J.R. just always tries to find positives in everything.  Here’s a true American hero.  All is forgiven, J.R.  Ah that entrance was flawless!  Musicality is phenomenal.  This will be better than HHope’s because Karina is a seasond pro who is doing these lifts.  But there’s so much pressure on the guy to hold and maintain her.  Passion is there.  It was good, and a good come back.  J.R. looks very very angry with himself.  Bruno called him strong and fearless.  It was incredible for him to support the girl when he’s never danced before.  Great job.  Carrie Ann said there was a fire burning the whole time, and the lifts and dismounts of the lifts were clean.  Len said it had mood and intensity, and he was transported to the back streets of Buenos Aires.  His ankle did still hinder him judges, it was phenomenal.  But it was great, and he’s doing the best he can.  Go J.R!  Carrie Ann – 9 Len – 9 Bruno – 9 – 27.  1-800-VOTE4-10.  Night score is 50.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke – Argentine Tango – Rob’s father was so excited about having a son with three girls.  His sisters dressed him up in dresses and make-up.  Everyone had such big personalities that he had to find his own.  His father was his best friend.  When Rob was 16, his father was diagnosed with esophagial cancer and passed away 8 weeks later.  Rob was heartbroken.  He lost confidence and remained bottled up.  (Kris Jenner is narrating btw).  His life dream was to go to USC like his father hoped (I hate to say this during the sob story, but all he talks about USC.  Sorry!)  Rob would cry and freak out and not know where his next move was.  Rob joined the show because he had nothing to lose.  He wanted to step out of the shadow of his family and become his own person.  He entered the competition as a boy, and now he is a man.  Real argentine tango music!  WOW what an intro!  AH LIBERTANGO, BE STILL MY BEATING HEART.  Listen to the full version, you won’t regret it.  His posture is hunched over slightly, which is the girl’s job.  He’s there for Cheryl every step of the way.  Legs are kept straight and bent when necessary.  Cheryl is divine in this.  Everything is just so clean and sharp!  That ending was phenomenal!  He’s pulling out the big guns too!  Carrie Ann says there’s no way to fake good dancing, and that’s what she wants to see in the finals.  There was no faking, but just good strong dancing.  Len says it’s not where you start, but where you finish, and he’s finishing strong.  Bruno says he started off like a goofy outsider, and now he’s slick, dark, and in control.  He looks great.  Carrie Ann – 9 Len – 9 Bruno – 9 – 27.  1-800-VOTE4-02.  Night score is 55!

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough – Argentine Tango – Ricki’s grandmother was the person who put Ricki in the arts first.  She was molested in her own home…and she could never feel safe, even in her home.  She turned to food and got big.  She got a call for Hairspray, and it changed her life.  She gained a tremendous amount of wait, and reached 260 pounds.  Gosh, when I get older I don’t have that moment of rock bottom like all four of the stars have had.  Ricki lost 100 pounds, and got a call for her talkshow.  The Ricki Lake Show was her come back.  After her talk show ended, she had a bad divorce, and moved to LA for a new life.  She’s a fighter.  This is already beautiful.  Ricki is so straight she is almost stiff, but it’s so elegant.  I haven’t picked a favorite since Kristin left, but I think Ricki just may be my favorite.  They just make everything look so flawless, but the attention to detail is remarkable.  Phenomenal!  Len said the lifts swept in and swept out, and he doesn’t think Ricki knows how great that was, because it was great.  Bruno said Ricki was on top the whole way through.  Mood was spot on, and dancing was fearless.  Can I get a 10!?  Carrie Ann sees core strength developing, and now she’s got the pop!  Carrie Ann – 9 STOP. GO AWAY CARRIE ANN. GO. Len – 10 Bruno – 10 – 29. 1-800-VOTE4-11.  Night score is 59.

CHA CHA TIME.

Hope will get the 4.  I guarantee it.  They’re trying so hard to get rid of her.  First is Ricki and Derek.  Very clean!  That’s a strong cha cha, only it could use a little more pop–this is more subdued.  Hope’s is not that clean.  Her movements are just sporadic and not connected.  J.R. and Karina are third.  Karina is always so accented.  Really, J.R. is just wiggling around the stage.  This is a step down, but won’t be recognized by the judges.  That wasn’t greaet.  Rob is last.  Rob’s hand is so awkward.  But other than that it’s very clean and quite good.

My ranking:

1. Ricki

2. Rob

3. Hope

4. J.R.

Len thinks that there will be disagreement.  Bruno thinks every pro has brought it big time tonight.  The margin between each is very small.  Carrrie Ann likes watching them all right after each other and she was surprised by some of them.  Very vague.

Results time.  Fourth place is…..Hope and Maks with 4 points.  Ugh. (49 total)

Third place goes to J.R with 6 points (56 points)

First place with 10 points was ROB AND CHERYL! (65) What!?

Second place goes to Ricki and Derek with 67 total points.

This show is corrupt.  I need to be a judge.
