Twenty minutes before Dancing with The Stars ended tonight, Melissa Gilbert was rushed by ambulance to the hospital after she hit her head on the dance floor. Partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy followed her. Via The Hollywood Reporter:
In the middle of Gilbert’s Paso Doble with Chmerkovskiy, which earned them a cumulative score of 22, she hit her head on the ballroom floor. And though she didn’t let on during the judges’ commentary, pro Karina Smirnoff told The Hollywood Reporter and other press that Gilbert started complained of dizziness and of being light headed. She was so weakened, singer Gavin DeGraw carried her down from the stage’s elevated “red room” and out of the studio.
Host Tom Bergeron acknowledged Gilbert’s injury at the end of the live taping, but ABC reps on site would not give additional details. A full update will be given during Tuesday’s episode.
UPDATE: Melissa tweeted a little over two hours after that show ended that she was diagnosed “Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of.”
