Dancing With The Stars 11 – Week 6 – Results

Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani are eliminated from Dancing With the Stars. – Video

When it finally came down between Audrina Patridge and Jennifer Grey, I knew that it was time to say adios to the MTV star. I have my doubts that Jennifer was in the bottom 2. I think her fanbase probably were voting extra hard for her after her tango fiasco on Tuesday.

Audrina is a good example of how personality always trumps skill in the world of reality competitions. She was in the Top 3 skills-wise, but she couldn’t emote to save her life. When she said to Tony that she thought she’d brought out her personality, it seemed clear we were getting about as much personality from Audrina as we would ever get.

She really should have outlasted that other personality-free contestant, Bristol Palin. At least Audrina has skillz. Bristol? Not so much. But her mom is beloved in certain quarters. Having a famous mom in politics trumps being a big deal on MTV any day. Audrina will be fine. She just signed on for a new reality show on VH1.

Who leaves Rock week? Stay tuned to find out!

The elimination begins with the bottom 3 couples on the leader board.

Bristol and Mark, Kurt and Anna and Jennifer and Derrick take the stage… Kurt and Anna are SAFE.  Bristol and Mark are SAFE.  Jennifer and Derek are STILL IN JEOPARDY.

The judges want to see Bristol and Mark’s Tango again. Yeah. Beats me why.

The sisters Wilson or HEART take the stage to sing their classic hit “Barracuda” – VIDEO

Brooke is backstage with Kyle and Lacey and Rick and Cheryl. Rick and Cheryl are SAFE. Kyle and Lacey are STILL IN JEOPARDY.

Alice Cooper, Dee Snider and Brett Michaels give the would be RAWKERS advice.

Next, it’s a Travis Wall choreographed routine for the Macy’s  Stars  of Dance to a medley of rock hits, including “We Will Rock You” and “Schools Out” a Glee-like show choir sings.  This show is soooo weird! – VIDEO

Kylie Minogue is next, singing her new single. She looks awesome! – VIDEO

Audrina and Tony and Brandy and Maks were at the top of the leader board.

Next week, DWTS celebrates their 200th episode. A slew of stars will be back–6 stars will perform as guest judges, including: Helio Castroneves, Kelly Osbourne, Emmitt Smith, Drew Lachey, Mel B, Gilles Marini, Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Ohno.

Kristi Yamaguchi is in the audience and will be a team captain next week with Apolo Ohno.

Now it’s time for some filler! The contestants talk about the competition.

Finally…more results. Brandy and Maks are SAFE.  Audrina and Tony are STILL IN JEOPARDY.

Jennifer and Derek, Kyle and Lacey and Audrina and Tony are STILL IN JEOPARDY.

Kyle and Lacey are SAFE.

Jennifer and Audrina aren’t necessarily the bottom two. Bruno can’t believe that Audrina and Tony are in the bottom.  Carrie Ann says it would hurt if Jennifer and Derek went home tonight.  Len says it’s “absolute nonsense.”

Safe:

  • Kurt and Anna
  • Bristol and Mark
  • Rick and Cheryl
  • Brandy and Maks
  • Kyle and Lacey
  • Jennifer and Derek

  1. If Jennifer Grey is out, so am I. For this season anyway. They lost me mid-way last season and this year could be the same.

I just can’t go with crap dancers like Kurt and Bristol being kept over better performers. I had to tune out the Marie season, too. Maybe I should just give up on this show.

Sabrina being voted out should have been my warning signal that this show was too stupid for me to watch. I’ve tried hanging in there, but if Jen goes that will be it.

  2. Ruh oh I’m nervous. I thought for sure Kurt or Bristol would have been out. Ugh I’m getting Sabrina vibes now.

Eta: oh man we get Drew, Apolo and Gilles all back next week?? Swooon!!

  3. It’s not going to be Jennifer. IMO it has to be either Kyle or maybe Audrina.

  4. I can’t believe we have to suffer through another week if Bristol’s lumbering around the stage. ugh. And Kurt as well!

Even Audrina deserves to stay over either of those two.

    pfft.

  5. Bye bye Audrina. There’s no other outcome here.

I can’t wait to see Tony’s interviews. He’s going to be livid.

  6. Terrible result. Audrina was #3 on this show behind Brandy and Jennifer but clearly Kyle, Bristol, and Kurt have more voting pull for whatever reason that might be.

  7. Personally, I can’t wait to see what Bristol will do next week. She’s making progress, and isn’t that what reality shows are all about? Bristol has a lot of support around the country. No, she won’t win, but, they’ll keep her on as long as possible. She’s good for ratings.

  8. Audrina was far from the worst but seemed disconnected from the music. Would never had voted for her. Voted for some more entertaining couples. Bristol is still there because of people that would like her Mom in the White House and only for that.

Watch out and Bristol may well win it deserved or not.

  9. Bristol is still there because of people that would like her Mom in the White House and only for that.

IMO Bristol was much better this week and deserved to stay. DWTS is a popularity contest — just like AI — the best doesn’t always win!

  10. I am very sad to see Audrina and Tony leave as I thought they would be in the Finale. Here was someone without dance experience who progressed each and every week. You could tell how upset Tony was yesterday. I felt the judges comments were much too harsh and did not match the scores of solid 8’s.

Actually, the judges looked disappointed – well their comments didn’t help the situation. They gave too high scores to Bristol and then honored them by having them perform the feature repeat. I wanted to see more from Audrina, but that’s life.

  11. Was that Nick, champion from SYTYCD Season 1 dancing in the Macy featured dance. It sure looked like him. That was a cool dance – Travis did a nice job.

  12. What a sad day that I have to be sad that Audrina is leaving before other people. Ugh. But as a dancer, despite the possible vacantness, she was still better to watch on the dancefloor than wooden Bristol, who is also pretty effing vacant on the dancefloor.

    So boo, America. Boo!

  13. Yeah, not too upset over this. I love Tony, but I had a hard time even remembering that Audrina was in the cast. She’s just that personality-free to me. And IMO, she was over scored last night for a very stiff and emotionless Paso (stern faces do not aggression make.).

I’d rather see Kurt and Kyle any day – they are just more fun to watch IMO. I’ve come to realize over the years that these shows are about personality first and then dance (or singing. or cooking. or designing. or whatever.) comes next. If Audrina had actually displayed some personality, perhaps she would have lasted longer. Many of the other contestants have personality in spades, but not as much natural dance ability. However, some of them are actually showing a growth arc. And I think we should know by now that football players have massive fanbases. Not to mention that the judges ripped him a new one last night and probably caused a bit of backlash vote.

Bristol suffers from the same personality-free issue that Audrina does, but probably has a larger voting block and actually improved in her dance ability this week.

I’ve been reading on twitter this week that several former SYTYCD people were going to be in Travis’s dance. Nick would not surprise me, as he and Travis are friends. I believe Jaimee from season 3 was also in it.

  14. But as a dancer, despite the possible vacantness, she was still better to watch on the dancefloor than wooden Bristol, who is also pretty effing vacant on the dancefloor.

Audrina was a good dancer, but there was a lack of connection there, unfortunately. And I agree, I would say Bristol is also personality-free on the dance floor. But, I would imagine it’s fans of Bristol’s mom that are helping to keep her in.

  15. Seriously??? Audrina eliminated instead of Bristol? What were the voters watching?

  16. I’m glad Derek is still there, I think he’s awesome. And Jennifer is an inspiration! You go girl!

  17. But, I would imagine it’s fans of Bristol’s mom that are helping to keep her in.

I would think that goes without saying ;) but yes, I agree wholeheartedly.

But seriously when I have to decry the lack of Audrina?! still being on my screen, than the world is a messed up place. And it’s another reason I’m pissed Bristol is still around. She made me root for Audrina?! That’s just wrong.

  18. One of the biggest reasons I love DWTS is because it isn’t a life altering thing for the contestants. Unlike AI or SYTYCD or countless other shows that feature unknowns looking for a break, this show has contestants who already have an identity. So if I want to vote my small limit of votes for say Kurt Warner because I love the guy for his football career, I have absolutely no problem doing it proudly. This show is just about having fun.

  19. Audrina was my favorite on the show and I’m very disappointed that she’s out this early. She probably didn’t deserve to win, but she’s certainly a much better dancer than Kurt, Bristol, or Kyle.

This is the only week that I’ve forgotten to vote and look what happens!

  20. Yep, this is just a fun, silly show. No one is trying to be a professional dancer.

  21. Bristol is not going anywhere. Her mother’s supporters are voting for her. She’s going to win this thing. That’s why I was against her being on the show in the first place. That and the fact that she’s not a celebrity.

Glad Jennifer and Derek are sticking around. I really thought they were going to be out of there.

  22. Bristol is not going anywhere. Her mother’s supporters are voting for her. She’s going to win this thing.

Doubtful. There are still way too many liberals in this country for that to ever happen.

  23. Wow, that was a disappointing result.
I had high hopes for Audrina. She is young, pretty, great body, but yeah, somehow she couldn’t let loose.
So, there was no connection to the audience. Compared with Kyle, who may not be a better dancer, but
is connecting with the audience because of his personality.

This changes my prediction for the top 3.

  24. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Mark is the hardest working dancer in television? Too bad he had to wear those silly pants.

And Heart…..wow! She has been belting out like that for upwards of 40 years! Just wow!

  25. The bastards stole my eye candy away. Truthfully, Audrina lasted longer than I thought she would given this shows history.

  26. One thing for sure is after watching that arguable Top 10 dances of all time list this week I really miss Julianne Hough so much on the dance floor :(

  27. While I’m certain Sarah’s fans are playing a role in keeping Bristol on the show, I don’t think that’s the whole story. Bristol presents a very sympathetic story – a young, single mom spreading her wings on her own for the first time, with a jerk as a baby daddy. There are plenty of people out there that would find that endearing. She’s also come across well on the show even though she hasn’t shown much personality on the floor. Mark obviously feels protective of her and likes her. His fan base could also be supporting them. She showed improvement this week and America loves an underdog. Her situation is much different from Kate last season. She is, at the very least, trying!

Audrina, on the other hand, came across as if she was above all this. Bruno is probably my least favorite judge but he was pretty good on his critique of her. She never seemed connected to the music, her partner or the audience. I also doubt the size of her fanbase. Lots and lots of people had no clue who she was!

No doubt, I’ll be in the minority, but I wouldn’t have been upset if Jennifer had gone home, even though I also doubt they were truly in the bottom two. Derek grates and I think Jennifer is suffering on a level different that the other contestants due to her own physical limitations and medical issues. I’m not at all sure it is in her best interest to continue.

  28. Nope, you are not in the minority in not being upset if the ringer Jennifer is sent packing. She showed a not so nice side last week and frankly, she looked a tad out of it on this week’s show. Maybe she should go because of her medical issues. As for Bristol, she did a really good job this week and I agree about leaving politics behind on a show that is about fun. I wasn’t an initial fan of Kelly Osbourne but boy did she come out of her shell and did a great job while she was on. I rooted for her just because of the growth she showed each week. I like seeing non dancers improve each week rather than some other competitor that has a dancing background. Audrina was forgettable – looked like a wind up Barbie doll with no emotion. Whatever, this show is my winding down from a day at work show and love watching it.

  29. I agree about leaving politics behind on a show that is about fun.

“Politics” is the reason Bristol is on the show. Kind of hard to leave it behind.

  30. Maybe I don’t live in the real world, but the show is supposed to be about dancing and not personalities. Audrina deserved to stay. She may have been able to work on the emotional end if she had more time. Bristol is annoying, she’s gotta go. Not a fan of Kurt Warner’s dancing either.

  31. I’m very sorry for Tony. He had a good dancer, one of the few times, but she just had no spark. I enjoy Kurt and Kyle and even Rick Fox more. That said, this season is starting to be a let-down. I don’t like Brandy, but it would be great if Maks won, since he was robbed with Mel B.
Maybe Julianne needs to come back. Could use Dimitry too, to spark things.

  32. Nope, you are not in the minority in not being upset if the ringer Jennifer is sent packing.

Jennifer Grey is not a ringer. Brandy is more of a ringer than she is.

“Politics” is the reason Bristol is on the show. Kind of hard to leave it behind.

I don’t agree. She might not have been well-known if not for her mother, but there have been political figures on DWTS before (Tom Delay). It really bothers me that so many people don’t believe she deserves to be on the show. When I first heard the list of people dancing this year, she was an immediately recognizable name. THAT’S the reason she’s on the show.

I have not voted this season, but if I were, I’d be voting for Bristol and Jennifer. I won’t miss Audrina, she has been pretty forgettable all along.

  34. DWTS’ results shows have been really entertaining this season.

I’m not surprised it was Audrina. I think Kurt and Rick will be the next two. THEN, and only then, do I think it’ll be Bristol – due to her mom’s fans AND the fact that she’s not a terrible dancer, like Tom Delay, and she’s not easily forgetable (like Audrina, unfortunately) or unlikeable (Kate Gosselin).

  35. Next week, judging from Dial Idol votes, Kyle and Brandy will duke it out not to get eliminated.

Brandy really need some great scores to survive. Maybe triple 9 twice?

The top 4 vote getters are Kurt, Jennifer, Rick and Bristol. And bristol will not go anywhere judging that she NEVER dance earlier. Always pimp spot, second or thrid from the last.

Next week. Kyle will dance the first or second. And he is doomed. Unless he can get some nine or ten. But I doubt it.

  36. Poor Audrina. Since DWTS changed the votes systems 3-4 seasons ago, celeb with high scores but low votes from audiences suffered the most.

In old system where Judges score : Votes is 45:55, there is no way that rank 2 from judges scoring will get eliminated even if she got the smallest votes.

But with new system where the balance is 30 : 70, good scoring will only help you if your fans keep voting for you.

DWTS are now very close to based on public votes. The scoring just not that important anymore except maybe the FREE Style in finale where you got to get top score to impress the viewers to vote for you.

  37. Well, I like Bristol and glad she is still around. There is something about her that I find very appealing/fresh and her skills seem to be improving. And I so appreciate the lack of behind the scenes drama with her. For one who is not a seasoned performer (as the others are BTW) I think she has done a fine job. I am not a seasoned performer and can’t even imagine what it would be like to be cast in competition with those who are. I am not judging her by who her Mother is. I just like her personality. I do not think she will win DWTS BUT…neither did I think an out of tune singer would win AI this past season. So, one just never knows.

I totally agree this is NOT about politics. Good grief. Give the girl her due. She is 19 years old, has never performed in public before millions as a dancer or actress and I think she is doing just fine. I don’t vote either but perhaps I will start and vote for her as she is refreshing unlike some of the other drama queens.

  39. I like seeing non dancers improve each week

BINGO. My sentiments exactly and Bristol is improving. I posted earlier she is 19….just recalled she had her 20th recently. And BTW. I am not a fan of her Mothers. Just sayin’.

  40. Bristol is not going anywhere. Her mother’s supporters are voting for her.

I think some are voting for Mark Ballas. Derek & Mark are the most popular dancers and always seem to win or get close to winning no matter who their partner’s are. A lot of comments are “please don’t go Derek” etc. Love them or hate them, I wouldn’t bet on Jennifer (Derek) or Bristol (Mark) getting voted out for awhile.

  41. I don’t agree. She might not have been well-known if not for her mother, but there have been political figures on DWTS before (Tom Delay).

Right. And what does Bristol and Tom have in common other than their political affiliation? Both are polarizing figures. They were chosen exactly because half the audience would love them, and the other half Not. In other words, Red vs blue, baby.

At least Tom’s notoriety was connected to his career, rather than who he was related to.

One thing for sure is after watching that arguable Top 10 dances of all time list this week I really miss Julianne Hough so much on the dance floor

Ha, I was thinking just the opposite. My love for Apollo/Julianne was a fluke, because otherwise I don’t miss her at all. Watching back, I got nostalgic for the old days before the wonder triplets (Derek/Mark/Julianne) took over the show. It seems like they just keep trading wins now.

The top 4 vote getters are Kurt, Jennifer, Rick and Bristol. And bristol will not go anywhere judging that she NEVER dance earlier. Always pimp spot, second or thrid from the last.

Meh, really? I shouldn’t complain because I don’t bother to vote, but I might cut out of this season at top four, then, if that’s how it shakes down. Except for the freestyle, because I’m curious to see if Jennifer goes for the Dirty Dancing nostalgia angle or not. At this point I mostly enjoy the Maks/Brandy drama and the Kyle/Lacey shenanigans. Although I am slowly growing strangely fond of Kurt’s magician gestures.

  43. Both are polarizing figures.

I don’t find either Tom Delay or Bristol polarizing figures. Frankly, Tom Delay was “entertaining” with his lack of dancing abilities and this show is about entertainment. I find Bristol very entertaining as well. I don’t see red or blue frankly. This is just a show and not about politics.

  44. At least Tom’s notoriety was connected to his career, rather than who he was related to

I frankly don’t see what difference it makes as to who is related to Bristol. She is carrying her own style and doing quite well on her own. None would be on this show if they weren’t in the public eye in one way or another and that is the name of that tune.

  45. Did anyone notice SYTYCD Mark Kanemura dancing with the shirtless group behind Kylie Minogue? Loved Mark in Bleeding Love with Chelsea

  46. I don’t agree either that Bristol or Delay being on was about politics. It seems DWTS wants guest stars from all walks of life so why not ex-politicians (if there is such a thing) or their kids. I seriously doubt DWTS is trying to make some political statement. I just enjoy the show. The one thing I am sick of are the people they bring on that have dance experience. I would love to see those people get the boot right off the bat.

  47. I seriously doubt DWTS is trying to make some political statement.

    I never said that.

Both contestants are well-known because of POLITICS. Bristol isn’t an actress, or an ice skater, or reality TV star. She’s the daughter of a POLITICIAN. Tom Delay was in the House of Represetatives…a POLITICIAN.

Ergo, they are on the show due to POLITICS. And both, just like Kate Gosselin (not a politician, but a reality star) are polarizing. Why are they polarizing? Because of politics.

I agree. The year Jerry Springer was on I voted for him every week until he finally left the show. I totally disagreed with his politics and absolutely hated his show. But his earnest desire to do well for his daughter’s sake touched me and I wanted him to stay on as long as possible, even though he was not a great dancer.

Bristol has my sympathies too. It’s not easy being the child of a celebrity (political or not). She had to not only confess her pregnancy to her parents but to the world at the worst possible time. Maybe there are some who vote for her because of her mother, but I’d bet there are plenty voting for her just because she is earnestly trying hard and has improved. This is way out of her comfort zone.

I may vote Republican, but I never checked the political party of any of the dancers before voting. What makes the difference what political party, sports affiliation, tv show or movie someone is from? A basketball fan won’t vote for a football player? The only one ever on this show that was polarizing for me was the ex-Mrs. Paul McCartney. I couldn’t even watch that year! And would she have been a celebrity if it hadn’t been WHO she was married to? (Does that show my age?)

  50. but I’d bet there are plenty voting for her just because she is earnestly trying hard and has improved. This is way out of her comfort zone.

This! Yes. She appears sincere and I find that very refreshing. I bet others see that too and don’t judge her by the feelings one may have for her Mother. I am not a SP fan but I do admire Bristol for the way she is handling herself on DWTS. I may just have to cast my first vote with DWTS for her this next week.

  51. I think Bristol is OK. She doesn’t have performance exp., but neither do Rick and Kurt. She’s not an athlete, but neither are Kyle or Brandi or several others. She doesn’t have any particular music talent, but neither do some others. But she’s young, fit and healthy, not battling sports injuries. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I don’t think she should win, unless she shows some development in the character aspect of the dance, but about now or next week is the time for her to go.

I don’t mind them tapping politics for contestants (sadly, many of them are basically entertainers: known for what the say, not any actual accomplishments), but grabbing people who are only famous for who they’re related to is a bad step. There’s already jokes about the “star” level of the stars. Child of star is too lame.

  52. I like Bristol because of the way she is on the show. She could have come on being a beech or cocky and no matter who her mom was I would not have voted for her. Be she did not do these things so I am voting for her no matter who her mom is. Go Bristol!
