Dancing with the Stars season 24 is off to a strong start, closing the ratings gap with its arch rival on NBC The Voice:

Dancing With the Stars opened its spring season to pretty solid ratings Monday. The show earned a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 for its premiere, improving on its 2016 spring opener (1.8) and nearly matching last fall’s 2.1. It was also up among adults 18-34, and it closed the gap with nightly leader The Voice (2.4) — trailing by 0.4 vs. 0.9 last spring and 1.2 in the fall.

We didn’t post ratings updates here last week after an upgrade mishap resulted in Nielsen being offline for a few days. The Bachelor finale was down from the previous year, but still beat The Voice (Via TVbyTheNumbers):

The good news for The Bachelor finale is that it was Monday’s No. 1 show among adults 18-49 and edged out “The Voice” (2.7 vs. 2.6) for the top spot.

And as you can see, The Voice ratings dropped 2/10ths of a point vs last week.

Last night’s The Voice kicked off the show’s Battle Rounds featuring “superstar” advisors including Luke Bryan, Celine Dion, DJ Khaled and John Legend. The DWTS cast is buzzy this year. We’ll see if the show has momentum.
