Dancing With The Stars – Season 18 – Week 4

Dancing With The Stars : Season 18 photo DWTS18_fin.jpg

Hey guys!!! Amanda (Celebrity Bug) is back in action and here to recap another exciting week of Dancing With the Stars. Last week, Billy Dee voluntarily left the competition due to chronic back problem.

Tonight, the big switch takes place and it will be exciting to see how the celebrities and their pros cope. Will their new pros bring out the best of them? Will the celebrities sink in the absence of the partner they’ve come to love and hate? Will the pros be genuinely happy if a different pro produces better results for their celebrity? The answers to all of those burning questions are about to be revealed…

Lights. Camera. Action. Tom and Erin welcome us to the ballroom and introduce the remaining nine celebrities, and two-time champion Julianne Hough will be sitting in for the second time as guest host. Hopefully, this appearance is less controversial than her first. The scores from last week and this week are being combined and NO ONE IS GOING HOME TONIGHT!

Candace & Tony (Quickstep)

Tony was the one pro that Candace did not want as her partner, because he is always cracking jokes and making her blush. She talks about their different coaching styles and Tony says that despite her being the competition, he wants to see her succeed. She looks a bit lost as the dance starts and it doesn’t get much better. Maybe Tony should have worked more on technique than trying to get her into character. By far her weakest dance yet.

Len thought she did a good job, while Julianne agreed but thought that the body contact was too gaped. Bruno loved that she went for it and Carrie Ann loved the tone and the energy. I suspect the switch is making the judges go a little easier on the contestants.

Carrie Ann-7, Len-7, Bruno-7 & Julianne-7 = 28/40

James & Cheryl (Tango)

James and Cheryl hope they do not hate each other after this and James feels like he is cheating on Peta, while Cheryl is feeling the pressure to match his breakout week. Cheryl, other than Julianne, is the best female pro to take part on the show, so it will be interesting to see what she brings out of James. Wow! I wasn’t that enthused about his dance last week, but he is serving tonight and looking hot.

Julianne calls him the total package and unintentionally makes some inappropriate jokes, Bruno loved the game playing, and Carrie Ann didn’t think he was affected by the switch at all. Len called it hot and fiery.

Carrie Ann-9, Len-8, Bruno-9 & Julianne-9 = 35/40
To Vote For James:

Drew & Witney (Cha Cha Cha)

Drew says it’s like “dancing with the his daughter”, while she talks about going from the youngest celebrity in the competition to the oldest. Cheryl says the pairing is “creepy, but cute”. Her words, not mine. Drew is not a strong dancer, but this is probably his best dance yet and he’s into it.

Bruno calls it a toss up between Elvis and Liberace, Carrie Ann loved that he enjoyed it, Len thought it was terrific and Julianne declared it as his turning point.

Carrie Ann-8, Len-8, Bruno-8 & Julianne-9 = 33/40
To Vote For Drew:
Call 800-868-3409, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Julianne reveals that she and her brother, Derek Hough, are going on tour. I’m sure MJ will keep you guys updated on that going forward. This announcement transitions into the Macy’s Stars of Dance performance, which is choreographed by Derek, and per usual, it is pretty spectacular. This guy is just in a league of his own in terms of this show.

Danica & Maks (Jive)

Lucky her she gets to dance with both Chmerkovskiy brothers. He says Danica questions things more than Meryl, while Danica is just hoping it goes well. It’s a fun dance, but she needs to loosen up because all of the hip action is coming from Maks at the moment. Not that I’m complaining. Tom reveals their was a problem with the track, which might explain why the timing was off a bit.

Carrie Ann thought it was her most confident dance, Len thought it needed more Jive content, and Julianne agrees with Len and says that she thought Maks was just phoning it in. So much for her keeping the peace this time around. Bruno thought it was great that she recovered and thought it was good.

Carrie Ann-8, Len-8, Bruno-8 & Julianne-8 = 32/40
To Vote For Danica:
Call 800-868-3403, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Charlie & Peta (Rumba)

Charlie was worried about the fear of the unknown with his new partner, while Peta wants to keep his strong track record in tact. The guy is simply a superb dancer and would look good regardless of which partner he got switched with. The moves are so clean and precise. Poetry in motion comes to mind.

Len thought as a performance it was terrific, but it was more contemporary than rumba. Julianne thought it was stunning, but gives him some pointers on his footwork. Bruno thought it was a majestic performance, while Carrie Ann agrees with Len and calls out the lift. Carrie Ann’s score is ridiculous.

Carrie Ann-7, Len-8, Bruno-9 & Julianne-9 = 33/40
To Vote For Charlie:
Call 800-868-3412, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Amy & Mark (Salsa)

Amy finds the switch nerve-wrecking. No kidding! Mark says he has faced a lot of challenges on the show, but this is his hardest and he talks to Derek to get a better understanding about how Amy moves. She moves well… better than most with their actual body parts. This dance, however, is quite dry and lack any excitement. I suspect she will still get good comments and scores. It is hard to critique her.

Julianne says she is more than inspirations, she is a competitor. Bruno didn’t see any flaws, Carrie Ann thought Mark allowed her to shine and Len thought her bottom is the top. Okay Len.

Carrie Ann-9, Len-8, Bruno-9 & Julianne-8 = 34/40
To Vote For Amy:
Call 800-868-3410, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Cody & Sharna (Fox Trot)

Cody and Sharna are both from Austraila, and they are happy about that. Sharna notes the generation gap and he says she doesn’t allow him to joke around as much as Witney. He starts out by singing and the dancing is improving. It’s the first time where he doesn’t appear to be counting every move in his head. He may be, but I couldn’t tell it and that is point.

Bruno thought he was good side-by-side, but struggled in hold. Carrie Ann thought his hold improved, but he needs to work on his arms. Len thinks he needs to work on the fine details, while Julianne thinks he is just hoovering in the middle and needs to break out of his comfort zone. I agree, he needs a big moment.

Carrie Ann-8, Len-7, Bruno-8 & Julianne-8 = 31/40
To Vote For Cody:
Call 800-868-3408, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

NeNe & Derek (Jazz)

This is the pairing I’m most excited about, because I do not believe Tony is pushing her hard enough. Even she believes that Tony struggled to bring out how fabulous she is. Let’s see if the change makes a difference. It’s better. The movements are still a little too tame and too small for her body, but major improvement. One of the pros need to step it up… I’m looking at you Tony.

Carrie Ann thought she killed it, Len called it her best dance (I agree), Julianne thought her inner Beyonce came out and Bruno thought she looked like a queen.

Carrie Ann-8, Len-8, Bruno-8 & Julianne-8 = 32/40
To Vote For NeNe:
Call 800-868-3401, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.

Meryl & Val (Argentine Tango)

Tom reveals Meryl and Val were the most requested pair of the night and much like Danica, she is a lucky girl. She says Val is more serious than Maks. Like I said earlier about Charlie, she would do well regardless of her partner and it really shows here. Her footwork is impeccable and she doesn’t miss a beat. Dare I say it, but Val has really proven himself to be the stronger choreographer of the two Chmerkovskiy brothers.

Len calls it the dance of the night, Julianne says she would love to dance like her (What?), Bruno loved it and Carrie Ann says they are in a class of their own.

Carrie Ann-9, Len-9, Bruno-10 & Julianne-10 = 39/40
To Vote For Meryl:
Call 800-868-3406, or Use ABC.COM and/or Facebook.
9 Vote Limit Per Method /Per ABC.COM / Facebook Account.
