Watch Dalton Rapattoni perform his winners single, “Strike a Match” on the American Idol 2016 Final performance show. The final performances took place in the Dolby theater in Los Angeles on April 6. The winner will be crowned on April 7 in a 2 hour series finale on FOX.

This is a really fun song, and it’s the kind of thing I can imagine Dalton singing in the real world. But maybe it’s not competition material. The song doesn’t give the young singer the opportunity to go all emo, which is his strength. When he connects to a song, Dalton can really make an impact. Nevertheless, the song brings all the 80’s and 90s power pop feels, and I’m good with that.
