Daily Numbers’ Thread – 12/13/16

This thread is brought to you by the numbers 8, 10, 37 and 58.

Rae Sremmurd racks up their fifth week at the top of the Hot 100 chart with “Black Beatles”. They also garner the number one selling digital song with the lowest numbers in 11 years. The rest of the top 10 jump around a bit with one new entry.

X-Factor’s Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello enters the top 10 with Bad Things. It sees big gains on sales, airplay and streams. Earlier this year, Fifth Harmony got their first top 10 song (“Work From Home”) which peaked at 4th. It’s not very often that a group and a member from the group get their first top 10 in the same year.

Billboard is already predicting that Zayn and Taylor Swift will enter the top of the Hot 100 chart with “I Don’t Wann a Live Forever” while his former bandmate Louis Tomlinson also makes waves.

In the UK, it is a three-way race for number one amongst the X-Factor alumni. Matt Terry just won the latest installation and combine the traditional Christmas buying of the winner’s single with a song written by Ed Sheeran? Magic. If Taylor Swift and Zayn hadn’t just released a single while Louis Tomlinson debuted his solo single (and dedicated to his much-loved in the fandom Mom), Matt might have easily had the lock on number 1.

Billboard is out with their critics’ picks. BGTer Colum Scott gets recognition for his cover of “Dancing on My Own” while Little Mix (58), Zayn (37) and Fifth Harmony (8) made the list of the Top 100 Pop songs.
